Warwick Rework

Wind Whistler··2 votes·1,760 views

Why the fuck can Warwick still be in the game, but Sion, Poppy, and Yorick couldn't? Why couldn't you have given them relaunches like this? He looks like Warwick, he plays like Warwick, and he sounds like Warwick, too. Have you guys finally noticed that removing champions isn't a good idea anymore?

Because old Sion, Yorick and Poppy kits were bad. Especially old Poppy, that ult was the most cancerous ability in the game.

Warwick's old kit wasn't great, but it was pretty outdated. No need to change it up too much.

if warwick can be salvaged then so can all 3 of those champions

instead we got 3 shitty reworks that deleted the original player base

VoidStaresBack2 votes

No, because they are entirely different cases.

Warwick had a dated kit that was no longer relevant in the game but presented no major game-health issues outside of perhaps his point-and-click suppression ultimate.

Sion, poppy, and yorick were actively toxic and had to have significant parts of their kits removed in order to improve their game health, thus the major discrepancy between the reworks in terms of how much was kept.

Warwick broke the game every time a new on-hit item came out and he's getting even more synergy with on-hits now that his Q can apply them

Poppy's ult could easily just be shifted to not be 'ignore everyone except for 1 person' or just force a 1v1 like Camille's ult does now.

sion could easily have just been a strong melee carry with a lot of durability in exchange for being immobile.

neither of these champions can be justified as being completely remade into something that doesn't make sense for either of them

yorick is just dog shit boring, even less fun than he was before the rework (how riot managed this i have no idea)

You realize that a Kayle can apply on-hit effects just as fast as Warwick can, to multiple targets, and doesn't have to build tanky and can thus build more on-hit, right? If you're going to complain about warwick "breaking on-hit" take a look at the primary AS/on-hit marksman first.

Big Lincoln3 votes

kayle didn't become permaban when red smite and sated came out

VoidStaresBack2 votes

That's because she rarely jungles, whereas it's warwick's meta role. Her items are more expensive than warwicks, so it's really inefficient to use her in the jungle, especially given that her ganking power is even lower than Warwicks.

I distinctly remember kayle running rampant with sated and getting a slight nerf along with sated getting nerfed a few patches after its introduction.

######Also it was regular devourer's introduction when ww was permabanned, not sated. Turns out infinitely scaling on-hit damage is cancerous, who knew?

Holy shit. You get it. You completely get it. To be honest, I even sort of agree with Yorick. Yorick didn't have the best kit and stuff, but he's way worse now than he used to be. I had to face one in lane, and I just started crying. It was that terrible.

This is a new tier of update. I call it the Taric update.

Taric updates (really they are GP updates but Taric did it best) is when the over all character is more modernized rather than reworked from the ground up as something different.

Reworking from the ground up is just wrong. Yorick doesn't even look like Yorick anymore, and neither does Sion. They don't sound like they used to, and don't play anything like they used to. It's like playing a different champion, hence why I always say they've been removed.

That's usually because most of it isn't really salvageable or didn't even help fulfill the identity in the first place.

If the champion's identity changed because of things that they took out, doesn't that mean that said things DID fulfill the identity?

Ralanr1 votes

Sion didn't really have an identity in the first place.

Sion didn't.

Poppy did. Her kit was pure cancer, the most cancer in the game, but it actually had a cohesive theme to it.

That was thrown away by her rework.

Fuck Poppy.

Fiora Yasuo

And no, it is not particularly hard to balance Yasuo. He's balanced right now. But people hate him because they're stupid baddies who don't know how to play against him, or play someone he counters into a good one and wonder how he has the audacity to win lane against them.

What about the other melee hypercarries?

What about the other melee hypercarries?

Can you name any?

The only other one I can think of who has been in the game relatively recently was Yi, who was hard nerfed for the bullshit reason that even if he wasn't a problem in high elo he's just too oppressive in lower elos.

Jax and GP?

Jax and GP?

Yeah I forgot about Jax, but that dude's kit is fucking oooooooooooooold. His kit is no more cancer than Rammus' (and yes I am calling Rammus cancer).

GP? He's only technically melee. He'd also be easier to balance if Riot got rid of the stupid gimmicky gold generation he has.

Agreed. Getting rid of Yorick was pretty much the last straw for me. After that, I finally stopped playing the game.

Poppy and Sion are god tier reworks.

Yorick is pretty meh, but Yorick was always meh.

Big Lincoln4 votes

poppy is cancer and Sion needed to be overpowered to stay relevant

"god tier"

As far as reworks go yeah. They're both very successful.

there are things you can't say on board, for example if you say that sion rework failed you will be downvoted, if you say that vel'koz is unhealthy you will be downvoted

it's completly fine for a rework to massively change the identity of a champion, warwick identity for some reasons could have stayed but sion being a hypercarry wasn't fine lul

I don't care if people downvote me. I expect that sort of thing by now, and know what I'm getting myself into whenever I post a thread.

But yeah, I miss Hypercarry Sion. Only AP Sion could be considered unhealthy. There was no reason to get rid of AD Sion.

It wasn't because Sion was a hypercarry, it was because what the fk was Sion suppose to be? He was part tank, part mage and part hypercarry. There is no reason to have such a mess of a champ, so they reworked him figuring he should be more a tank, which they did. And I feel he was too since his core mechanic was infinitely stacking health, that seems tanky to me.

Ahristocats1 votes

sion was never a tank

sion was a mage but was played as a hypercarry in competition after his AP ratio nerf

so no, sion was a hypercarry

He had hp stacking, that sounds like a tank stat to me, and since that was kinda a very big theme of his, its safe to say that was his core theme aka his core theme was tank.

I will admit my knowledge of old Sion is only from videos but he just seemed like a mess before. Kinda like old Karma was a mess. Even if new Karma is just a Q bot.

To be fair, we can now say Yorick is balanced, also as a player if both new and old Yorick, I like new just a bit more

Elisheva2 votes

I miss old yorick simply because I prefered going AP to fuck with toplaners (same with the old poppy) But yeah, he is much more balanced now.

I don't know how exactly he's balanced. If you get hit by his W you're pretty much fucking dead.

L Rayquaza1 votes

He can't just spawn his ghouls, he has to dig up the graves, plus his old ult was insane if you ulted the ADC

Elisheva1 votes

Yoricks not very flashy, but he's actually pretty fun if you really get into him. But yeah, both sion and poppy both are extremely powerful, and fun to play.

Rewt2 votes

? so is this backhanded praise? ??? its a good rework..... there are good ones and bad ones..... kinda like Viktor, that was a good one.

A Bagelle2 votes

Removing? bah. its a rework. If you were to "remove" the champion, double u double u wont even exist anymore (i call warwick double u double u lol) Warwick and he is kind of similar to the old one. Riot just wants champs that arent played often anymore to be played more. Rito is trying and sion and poppy visuals werent that good to most people. I still wont ever play warwick becos im not into 2 many melee champs. A relaunch/rework is a good term to use with warwick. [slayer-jinx-wink]

ChaddyFantome2 votes

Poppy's kit works almost exactly like her old one did but with some tweaks and abit of added tech, just like Warwick does here.

PermabannedGaren1 votes

Yorick was a discolored hooded hunchback with a shovel who summoned undead creatures to fight for him who played by hard pushing lane and bullying his opponents, before splitpushing with his considerable pushing and dueling power.

Yorick is now a discolored hooded hunchback with a shovel who summons undead creatures to fight for him who plays by hard pushing lane and bullying his opponents, before splitpushing with his considerable pushing and dueling power.

Where is the disconnect in identity? I guess his kit was mostly scrapped, but literally every spell he had was a variation of "summon ghoul" except for his ult, which was boring. Now he summons ghouls with one ability and has two other abilities to help those ghouls fuck shit up, and then can summon a mega ghoul who deals huge damage if Yorick fights alongside her.

His kit is better.

Sion's rework isn't much like the old one true, but he never had much of an identity anyway IMHO.

But Poppy? Fucking awful. Trash most of her kit if you want, but why the fuck would you make her a tank? Poppy was a late game melee carry. She should have been made into a late game melee carry with a healthier kit.
