To all those who are ecstatic about Poppy being cute

Has it ever crossed your mind that Poppy WASN'T SUPPOSED to be cute? I'm not saying that she should be ugly like she is now, but that's not right either.

I'm pretty sure Poppy was supposed to really break the mold of what a Yordle was supposed to be. Why else would she have a tragic backstory? Why else would she not live in the happy-go-lucky Bandle city like every other Yordle minus Heimerdinger?

Now that she's cute and everything, I feel it's harder to see her stand out among the other Yordles. Say what you want about Tristana enjoying blowing up people and Teemo's entire lore, but all of the Yordles' in-game quotes seem to lack the seriousness that Poppy had. Up untill now.

So please, next time you think of the new Poppy being cute, remember that that's probably not what her creators had in mind when they made her, and how upset the few people who actually frequently played her are. Thank you.

How could she break the mold of there was no mold by the time she was created?

I do prefer more variance in a species. Tristana and Poppy look too similar now. It feels like Poppy got pushed into being cute for marketing reasons. How many people will buy things with Poppy on them because Poppy is now 'cute'? Arg the future chibi figures.

Gnar His familly was murdered in front of him by an unknown creature Veigar Tortured by Noxians Teemo Psycho of the Army Lulu Exiled from Bandle, all his family members and people that knew her, died already.

To be honest, I never cared for the live Poppy at all. I can't relate to her and I don't like her in the slightest because her model and how she holds herself is just so strange and ugly.

I play and like Urgot because that's what he's supposed to be: an abomination of science and flesh.

Poppy had no reason to be the way she did. She was a blacksmith in the lore, at worse she should be scarred or burned because of that. Not a penguin in a gold suit of armor waddling around everywhere.

Am I saying that all the Yordles should be mainstreamed into the big-eyed, cutesy wutesy that we've seen Tristana and Poppy turn into? No. But at the same time since Riot has now made Yordles an actual race instead of something players find cute and small there has to be some basic consistency between all their designs.

Also I like her lore a lot more now. A hero without knowing it is a much more relatable and likable backstory than "My father died and I serve Demacia now." Not only that it has a lot to work with. You can do a lot of interesting things with her character story-wise.

If you're looking for a Yordle that 'breaks the mold' then get Teemo. It's really ironic how the most iconic Yordle in the game is probably the furthest thing that a normal Yordle would be. He's literally a psychopath.

While I think it makes her not that outstanding compared to other yordles,I think her new personality makes her a bit more outstanding to the cast of champs as a whole. I mean we have already a lot of serious characters,especially among demacian champions,riot isn't so wrong when they explained that they didn't want to create a mini garen

Overall it also wouldn't surprise me if they actually plan to pull a Gangplank on her eventually. You know not necessarily directly after her update,but some day,maybe in a few years,when they want to progress her story. I mean what better way to make her realize that she is the hero,by making her face something horrible(similar to how the death of her father changed her in her old lore)

Veigar was imprisoned for pretty much no reason where he slowly went insane. Say what you want about his personality,but his lore is actually rather dark and tragic.

Tragic backstories are cheap and easy; they are the simplest way to give a motivation and trick an audience into caring for a character and their motivations without actually putting in the legwork to make them likable, relatable characters with personalities. It's why tragic backstories are so common.

So... there are alternative reasons for it being there.
