For junglers just starting out. (The basics)

Hey man pay attention to this gold 5 scrub 8) Seriously. Been playing a long time.

  1. Gank Early. Lvls 2-5 will be the easiest times to gank because no one has their ultimates that may completely destroy a gank. If they dont have hard cc ultimates or extreme burst from their ults it is safe to attempt a gank.

  2. If you are playing someone who is more likely to succeed at level 6 ganks make sure to keep an eye on the enemy laners and where they place their wards when you're about to hit your mark.

  3. See who bought wards every time they back and come back to lane. That way you know which player to watch when they are leaving lane to drop their wards.

  4. Don't over gank lanes. 2 Times in 2 minutes is enough. If you blow the enemies flash you SHOULD attempt a gank again if they are low or have no other escapes. If you can't get them then DO NOT COME BACK for a little while because you're costing your laner experience every time you come into that lane.

  5. Top lane is STILL an island. DO NOT GANK IT unless you are for sure you can either get a kill or force them out of lane. Top laners NEED their EXP to stay relevant and have a chance in 1v1s.

  6. If it's warded buy a sweeper or do the closest camp to that lane quickly. 9 times out of 10 early on in the game there is only a trinket ward in that bush and if you don't have a sweeper you CAN wait it out without wasting time.

  7. If there is a lot of pressure in one lane relieve it with pressure from yourself. Even if it's warded you'll be able to tell if they tunnel vision really quickly and ALWAYS ping when you are coming in.

  8. If your team DOESN'T REACT to your gank BACK OFF. YOU WILL DIE.

  9. If a lane is failing focus on other lanes and take objectives. Forcing their team to react to you is ESSENTIAL to coming back into a game.

  10. MID LANER IS GOD AND YOU WILL SUCK HIS DI*K TO GET HIM FED. Unless he's badderino 8)

  11. COUNTER JUNGLE GODDAMNIT. If you need to farm to a certain level react to their junglers movements by making movements into his jungle to rob his experience. Doing it on the opposite side of the map from him usually net you the most since its most likely the camps about to respawn.

  12. SPOT THE ENEMY JUNGLER. VIA wards or just a quick trip into their jungle if needed-FIND him. It sets up counter ganking opportunities. This leads to the next point.

  13. Neutralize early game gank heavy champions with a strong counter ganking champion. COUNTER GANK. Taking camps close to a lane where an enemy jungler might be is a great way to do this without wasting time.

  14. Finally if I've left anything out feel free to post it in the comments and it will serve as the 14th point and so on.

Jungling isn't the easiest role but it's not entirely difficult when you know what you're doing and how your presence on the map or in lanes will effect your lanes. It's your map. OWN IT.

Pick lanes that are easy to gank. Don't just randomly say "I'm going to gank mid", then show up at mid and say "ooga booga! I have ganked your lane"... and then do nothing because full health, enemy Veigar was farming under his turret. That isn't going to shut him down. This isn't even going to waste his Summoners. You will look like an idiot and have wasted everyone's time.

When you are looking to gank (in priority of easy ganks to not so easy): look for lanes where the enemy has low health- these are easiest to gank since you don't need much help to secure the kill look for lanes with significant action- By this I mean your laner and the enemy laner trade with each other very dangerously. these tend to lead to low health lanes. (basically a lane where the enemy and your ally has low health) (Hint! botlane and toplane tend to do this trade until they are both low on hp thing a lot) look for lanes where the enemy is far away from their turret- unless you are built to dive (early on probably not), these lanes are easy ganks if you have a little bit of cc. They have to walk a long way to get to the safety of their turret which is plenty of time to kill them. look for lanes that have no summoner spells- it's easy to kill an ashe with no flash who is under level 6.

When you gank: FLANK THEM. Jeeze I cannot stress how important your approach is to the lane itself. the difference?

I run through the lane into them as Xin, they run away, I dash to them, they flash away. Result: no kill. burned flash.

I flank and walk behind them as Xin, they run into me (probably take some damage), then they flash, I dash into them now that they are summonerless, and kill them. Result:killed them, and burned their flash.

sometimes if you flank, the enemy does the funny business and executes themselves on your turret. That's good too!

note: not all junglers gank the same, but most junglers tend to walk into the lane to gank, so when you are playing a jungler that walks into a lane (aka not Zac/post-6 Fiddlesticks, pre-6 fiddlesticks needs to flank), make sure you walk in such a manner that the ENEMY MUST WALK INTO YOU TO REACH THEIR TURRET. This guarantees you damage.

Oh and** be patient** when ganking. It's all about oppurtunity. Yes you could be farming, but 24/7 farming isn't necessary. Jungle camps respawn slowly (every 100 seconds) so you shouldn't just be clearing the jungle. Look around, go take the crab, ward up dragon so you know if they are trying to steal it. Do what you wish your jungler did for you when you lane.

Just asking two questions there, because I was a support player, in my little team, but lately we started changing our roles in the team, and I'm now supposed to be jungler. I kinda like it, but I'm kinda slow.

  1. How do you keep a good cs while jungling / ganking? I always end up with less cs than the enemy jungler, even when we're winning.

  2. Last time I took Malphite , and the opposing team had Shyvana in the jungle. She destroyed me in my own jungle very early, and then pursuied me whenever i got back in the jungle. How can I get back on track if that happens again? Should I hide and try to attack her jungle?

  1. Don't force issues and don't rush to a lane every time. There's a right time to do it and then there's the 99 times when you doing that did nothing but waste your time when you could've gotten 2 camps. Plan your route (and I don't mean just the initial one) ahead according to what's happening so that you can respond or make a play after you've cleared at least one of those. I guess that seems kinda vague, you can pm me for details.

  2. That's a bit of a bad match up, you need 6 and you're almost useless before 6 and she has the power to walk in on you and stomp on your camps. I'd play a game of cat and mouse you being the mouse and getting anything you can from the jungle while keeping up just enough vision to keep tabs on her movements. Prediction and evasion would be the name of your game. Also as always if someone is extremely mispositioned far up in a lane in a bad spot and you know you can get a kill go all in for it, because you really need that 6 asap and you're delayed enough being counter jungled. Also depending on your teams lane matchups if yours are favourable you can coordinate 2 or 3 man gank on her if you see her going into your jungle. Pretty much every champ gets pretty beat up early lvls even her so between 2 people and a jungle camp wailing on her you can make her bleed. Oh and at 6 start making the ult count, preferably on bot lane first since it's a 3v2 with heavy cc, almost guarantees at least 1 kill.

I think you should repost this in Tips and Tricks.

Buy Mobility Boots. The only boots I buy when jungling. Only buy others when needed.

Low cs sometimes mean you did a lot of ganks. It's not necessarily a bad thing.

You're really overestimating how much exp it costs a laner for a jungler to be there for all of 30 second for a gank. Lol.

Wish I'd found a list like this way back when I started jungling, good general basics and clearly worded, +1

Also a tip from me then. If you're playing a mage jungle, you should probably start blue, tank jungle should probably start gromp, auto-attack based jungle should probably start red, auto-attack with an AS steroid or auto-attack reset should start those golem like thingies, krugs?

Something to add: while you are watching for the enemy to overextend, you should also be watching your team overextend and position accordingly. Protecting your team with a counter-gank is more important than taking advantage of a tank opportunity yourself.

The best way to counter-gank are side lane is to pick up Raptor Buff and sneak into the lane bushes while you're team pushes up. Stay there waiting for the enemy to push back into lane or the enemy jungler to gank.
