Yes I am calling out Riot Game(s) for the what is probably the biggest bullshit system of all time. I plan on updating these lists of grievances as I find them, but now its time I say my piece. After all, I'm very angry.

Season 5 I remember getting on the boards and reading about how Plats and Diamonds were in Silver. Going 5/5 I went from Silver II to Silver V and I was, okay, probably won't rank up very soon. Took me to July to make it to Gold. Now mind you, last week I made it to Platinum. I was happy. I was thrilled. I was finally in the higher elos!

Well, your placement system gave me a big "fuck you" slap in the face last night. I'll grant you, going 3-7 in your promos is bad. But I looked up on all my opponents. Season 5 Plats and High Golds. Okay, then maybe Gold III? Gold IV? Sounds fair. NOPE NOPE NOPE Silver II. I SAW THAT SILVER EMBLEM AND INSTANTLY FELT RAGE.

So what I am perceiving from Riot is that.... 700 < 10 My 700 games is worth much less than 10. Because your MMR should be divided by 2 to get you to a soft reset. So cutting my hard work in half feels soft to you? That feels like the worst soft reset I've ever felt. 2 WHOLE DIVISIONS ISNT SOFT.

And for all the other natural Silvers, I feel bad for you. Because us Plat kids will kicking ass and carrying and you just get to be stuck in the games with us. Instead of making all these new queues and weird ass Cowboy skins, maybe Riot, maybe you should be listening to the Boards. We complain because we want the game to be better. I've tried the long post shit, only to be downvoted. Hell, this one will probably be downvoted.

On behalf of ever High Elo Player ever, it is bullshit that we have to be in Silver because a Provisional System drops us that low. Yes, I can see dropping the Gold V swarms back into Silver, but why are we dropped TWO tiers? Riot, you should be improving on this system. Make a barrier that protects high elo from being fucking whales eating Silver krill for the next few months. Is that the message you want to send to Silvers and Bronze players, the majority of the players who buy your dumbass Cowboy skins? I'm sick of it. I put in 700 games for nothing. Yes I could climb, but it will be months and I will not improve at the game. I don't see how that is fair to anyone.

Rioter comments would be appreciated. I'm sorry for being a bitch, but my nerves are shot. My hope is gone. In fact, I researched joining LOTRO cosplay group so I could spend my non-League playing dressing up as Gollum, because I feel about as pathetic and wretched when it comes to all the work I've put in.

What if I told you, this is how it worked for the last three years?

Now, go and play some ranked games and should you do well I guarantee you will be back in your pre-reset division in 50 games.

You will be getting up to 30LP per game and lose maybe 10LP.

This BULLSHIT! The nba, NHL, NFL, MLB, EPL, and every other league shouldn't have season ends. Their wins count shouldn't go back to 0. It should just be one continuous season that never ends so that teams and players don't have to prove themselves again.

Why do we even have LoL Worlds? Seasons should be disbanded and Worlds shouldn't exist. Its unfair that these pro players have to replay the LCS every single year. How unfair. Their previous season's wins should carry over.

I agree the system is BS. Should be a guide out there for new players as well. I can NEVER play my original account ever again in ranked. Why, well because I got into S4 my first placement matches (granted i'd only been playing for a couple weeks in season2). So i just went into ranked to check it out. Of course soon enough i was Bronze 5 and felt like since i couldn't go lower i would just mess around, learn new champs, have fun, and not even worry about winning so that next season I could get placed better. Season 3 i went 9/10 wins. Was like "holy moly i am going to be placed in at least S1". NOPE!!!! Bronze 5....I lost my mind.....come to find out my MMR was so crap from losing games when i first started that even if i went 10/10 every new season I would never get out of bronze. So yeah, the account i spent probably over 1k$ on is worthless. I TRULY believe Riot does things like this out of greed so that people will RAGE and start new accounts therefore giving them more money.

the thing is everyone is, that everyone is lowered in rank. So the silver players who you say your going to beat isn't really the case because they all demoted to bronze. So your still going to be placed against gold or maybe plat level players. Also at the end of the day everyone will go back to the rank they really are and it's a bit weird to say that you feel sorry for all the silvers that will be rekt while saying that it will be impossible for you to climb back up. If you really are a higher level you will get there and in general it seems like everyone was lowered quite a few ranks so there's no reason to be to upset.

The reason you get placed so low is because your MMR is shit.

It's a lot easier to stay stagnant in the league system than it is to move up or down the league system. For example, you can win every game except your promos and you'll never progress, but your MMR will be crazy high. On the flipside, you can lose every game except once in a while winning at 0 LP and it'll take you a long ass time to get demoted, but your MMR will be crazy low so you'll never be able to progress again.

The yearly reset puts you at a rank that reflects your MMR, not your league ranking. So if your MMR is higher than where you were and you do well in your provs, you'll be placed higher than your current rank. BUT if your MMR is lower than where you are, you'll be placed lower than your rank regardless of how well you do in your provs.

I don't know why I'm wasting my time telling you this because you've already made up your mind to be dumb and complain about it, facts won't change that.

Two points to add here.

First with every new season Riot in essence wipes the slate clean. Everyone resets to the same MMR and you play your 10 games from there. Do I think it is fair that Riot ignores everyone's prior history? No. Do I enjoy playing placement and other games with people of immense skill difference? Absolutely not. Every time Riot resets like this they force every lower ranked player some 80% to play against people much better then themselves. If anything this encourages people to quit and stop playing ranked because they get ROFL stomped so hard for a month or two while the brackets sort themselves back out.

My second point is probably my "why" answer. LoL is a Free to play gain and Riot and their new ownership only have a chance of making money if you are a regular and continue to play the game. Their backwards answer to this is reset the leaderboards. This potentially increases your hours played as you have to put in additional time to climb back up to where you left off in your progression. I personally think this is very backwards as noted in my point above because of the equal likely scenario of losing players as you force 80% of your player base to play against or with others of much different skill. 67% of NA players are in Bronze and Silver. So in the 10 promo games 27% of your player base (bronze) play with or against people in higher tiers. Huge skill difference. If you are bronze it means you are not very good. Have fun laning against a gold player or higher. This doesnt make sense. If I were in this area getting my ass beat 10 games would only make me hate this game and switch to HOTS which is much more user friendly.

So their system pisses off the higher tiers and pisses off the lower tiers, just in different ways. It is super broken and has been for years. The reason why Riot does it this way is to reset players tiers back to match their MMR. Again super broken as your MMR is reset to the outcome of your 10 placement matches. Riot uses the season reset to bring everyone back in line. They want your MMR to match your rankings. During a year long season you can climb higher than your MMR. This is their terrible way of bringing you back.

In reality Riot needs a completely new system. Personally I believe there is no MMR system and the only rule for ranked queues is the range of ranked tiers you can get matched with/against. The unfortunate truth is Riot is not smart enough to create an intelligent system that can create any sort of value that actually determines player skill. Instead we are stuck with this system which is 99% based on your win/loss and nothing else.

Got ranked bronze 1 when I started playing season 5 because I was BAD. Trained hard, played a lot, climbed to Silver 2 this preseason.

6 win and 4 loses, with only 2 bad scores. carried a game as Orianna with 13/5/10, one as nautilus 0/0/12, one as lux 6/1/4

If you win too much you'll be going against diamonds in gold 2 who crush you, as I found out the hard way.

I think the idea is that it's supposed to be fun to move back up.

That and if you want to be more tinfoil haty, It gives you motivation to play the game a lot more to get your rank back to where it should be.

Well, you ended Gold in Season 5. You did pretty bad in placements, if it was a test, it'd be a 30%. The whole point is to drop you, by a good amount. You're not supposed to end at the same place.

What did you place when season 5 ended? Gold 5? Gold 4? You making Plat in preseason doesn't matter much because it's preseason. I'm not suprised you got in silver 2. Last season I got silver 4 after placements when I ended the prior season in Gold 5. Went 5/5 in placements. 28 games later I got back in Gold 5. You will climb faster if your mmr is higher than the tier you are in so I wouldn't worry about too much just grind it out.

TLDR: Do you need a box of tissues for dem issues?

I agree with this somewhat, despite being low elo... it's just dumb. I have a full time job and don't get to play all that much. I'm 9-2 so far this season and I was dropped from S4 to B3 :( the bronze climb is getting old.

So yes it feels like a hard rest but its not. Hard reset would be free for all diamonds vs wood
