it has been 2223 days since a primary enchanter has been released.

...which was nami back in 2012 after her there have been 4 catchers and 2 wardens. I will say that bard and rakan have heals and or shields although those enchantments are more often second to their cc as the reasons for their success. Also there is ivern but his single 2 second shield really doesnt go far in an enchanting sense either.

People have been complaining about damage for years now and aside from the nerf to shield/heal items a while back or the whole shield class nerf there havent been much of any changes for enchanters. Besides rakan out of the 8 other champions released since 2017 ornn is the sole champ not heavily damage focused. And now i see this new champ (great backstory, love the poetic justice how he defeats captors using his own chains and he has a cool name and is pretty attractive) who looks like he has a fighters kit but lo and behold hes classed as a burst, because yeah thats exactly what we needed. [slayer-jinx-unamused]

At the very least we better get a full primary enchanter with someone else who can secondary role as an enchanter (and none of the pyke support bull-either) I better not hear anyone one start talking about But the kayle and morgana rework blah! When not playing aram i most recently mained kayle support for like 2 years and theyve already said theyre not reworking her for support which leaves morgana who is more catcher focused than she is on enchanting with her (magic only) shield.

I mean enchanters as a whole do need some form of rework imo

As a class they are way too similar to each other with a few nuances here and there.

i wouldnt quite say that. But i can see why it might be beneficial since dmage has outpaced anti-damage but thats completely due to riots crusade against first heals and then shields while constantly adding more damage to the game.

They really aren't even close. That's like comparing ...... Renekton to Wukong.

Nami and Sona can't Global heal.

Nami and Soraka can engage lane while Sona generally can't unless she is building Mage (In Which case she's not an Enchanter)

Nami and Soraka have an Early game. Sona doesn't.

Soraka and Nami generally lack a Late Game. Sona Doesn't.

Nami's Movement speed to allies is Numerical, short. Sona's is %, and long. Soraka only has Self Move Speed AWAY from a target.

Only Sona offers a Shield. Soraka and Nami offer better heals.

Nami's CC is delayed. Sona's is Instant and limited. Soraka's is over a duration to a location.

Soraka's Heals sacrifice her own HP. Nami and Sona don't.

Sona has Significant Damage. Soraka and Nami generally don't.

And if you try to include other enchanters, the differences vary even more. Lulu is imcomparable to the three. So is Janna, Rakan, etc.

They're WAY too close to each other, and what they do offers too little counter-play, to boot.

The things you're listing off are differences, but they don't add up to anything substantial. All enchanters are just slight remixes on the same overall pattern of healing/shielding and being really squishy. Some of them excel in hard cc and some don't, but that's about it. I'm not gonna look at Sona and Janna and be like "This is a game where I want to use Sona". I'll just pick Janna, and if I'm picking Sona, she's just fucking over-tuned.

Taric item 3504 item 3091 is the best enchanter support ever

hes a warden when it counts for a support which is early into mid game. Only late game once he has built enough mana to spam q + AA does his enchanting really take off.

given his rediculous damage and whatnot, he seems to play closer to a juggernaut than a warden.

sure he has that defensive stuff, but he's basically an even 3 way split between enchanter, juggernaut, and warden

His damage output seems low on paper but when you get in there with grasp, aftershock, or press the attack you'll notice a horrifying amount of damage output that is disturbingly closer to darius than it is to say.. nautilus

His W and Q definitely function more as Enchanter abilities than warden abilities. His E and the second affect of his W (The double cast aspect) make for the warden chunk of his kit, his passive and overall damage output combined with lack of mobility, high sustain damage and self healing make for the juggernaut aspect
