What happened to Varus?

I played a lot of games with him during this patch V8.8. I noticed that he's incredibly weak, you'd think that the change to his W becoming an active that synergizes well with his Q would be a massive buff but instead his winrate as well as his strenght has fallen down.

My suggestion would be not to give him a straight new buff, but just maybe revert the passive attack speed nerf? I know that Meta has to change and all, but some champions are always allowed to be meta and I don't want my favourite champion to die again, like he was during season 6.

It's not just me who's having a rough time playing him now, even pro's. I haven't seen QT play Varus at all during this patch, I looked up his OP.GG and he only played 1 game with Varus out of a total 30-ish games.

Yea they did nerf him pretty hard, but people are not used to playing as and with AP Varus yet. Give it another patch or two

See, I pretty much ONLY play Varus AP, so this makes me extremely happy. I’m gonna be tinkering with some builds.

I have been preaching AP Varus since season 5 or 6. It is very fun. No one expects how much damage it does. I run electrocute. item 3146 item 3124 item 3020 item 3115 item 3089 item 3151 or Lich or void or zhonyas literally anything

Nice! I usually go item 3115 item 3124 item 3085 item 3146 item 3020 item 3089 . I’ll pick up Lucidity boots or Morello’s if I need more CDR, and I run Electrocute and Ultimate Hat. I’ll pick up a Wit’s End instead if I need MR shred.

I think you should wait til after all the ADC changes come through cause he could rise to the top again or disappear completely

The passive nerf feels like a bit much. It really hurt his Laning tempo and just feels weird, like almost half the attack speed bonus he used to have.

The reduction in Laning power and strength of the execute makes him feel more like a lategame carry than the kinda "decent all stages" he was previously.

Maybe new item builds will help.

I been building him AD again, since I find building AP right now feels quite bad. I don't know why AP is worse than AD now but i'm guessing the massive attack speed he get's from his passive made AP with Attack Speed really good.

In terms of builds I been building item 3124 item 3085 item 3153 and then anything from there on..
