How did this who sight stone thing start anyways?

I want to know how this pointless bickering about an item you usually want to get it fairly early on even come into question in the first place.

Because there are people who think not building sightstone on support is a good idea.

To be honest, Warding is a huge part of the game but, Why should the support shove out 800 gold and an entire item slot? Why not get rid of trinkets and replace it with the sight stone? That way every one can ward with out having to shove out 800 gold and an entire item slot. All forcing one person to preform a specific task forces leaner game play and limits potential.

One person made a thread about it yesterday, then 2 more made threads saying similar ideas. Eventually, all 3 became popular so more threads talking about how they "don't have to build it", "can choose to not build it", and "the real truth" threads all show up.

Eventually it became a pointless fight on the Gameplay forums.

It starts with the idea that another player thinks they can tell you what to build. As soon as that happens there becomes a mentality of "You can't tell me what to do."

As a sup main, I build it, because it's best for the team.

However, I does seem like other players feel that they can tell the sup what to build. On Leona I build Banner over Locket and get scolded for it, but it works better for me...

This really sums it up, support is essentially the only role where other people feel they can tell you what and how to build (not to mention often what champion to play). Is SS a good idea? Well sure, but telling someone how they HAVE to build is the problem. If you want to dictate how support should be built, then queue as support you're basically guaranteed to get it, and do your dream build. Any other role will freak the f out if they get told "hey you have to build X."

I usually do this if I am so far ahead that it doesn't matter if I don't ward and get caught into a 1v5. Like I just said though, if I am that far ahead, the game is pretty much a loss for the enemy.
