kog'maw op.gg winrate: 58%

but i honestly hope that u brilliant ppl aren't going to sit around and believe that. it only continues to show that websites like op.gg and champion.gg are heavily flawed and are UNRELIABLE for stats. they're good for a fundamental understanding of champion strengthwith high win play rates but otherwise useless.

Or it shows that only mains who are good at him actually still play him.

Look at his playrate.. they're not going to nerf something because 10 people are good with it.

about a week ago i saw several posts on /gameplay talking about how kog'maw is strong while he stood at a 55% winrate (from champion.gg). i tried explaining that his .9% play rate really doesn't justify his 55% and that only people that main/one-trick him are the ones that do well and thus inflate his winrate. i doubt they really looked into it though

The thing is, the one trick argument falls apart when you realize that when players one trick champions their ELO rises and their win rate should balance out around 50%, too. If a champion has a consistent higher than 50% win rate it simply means more people are winning in general on average than they're losing, across the board, including one tricks. You can see this by win rates for champions generally being highest between 15 and 125 games played, but 125+ games is generally around the average win rate for that champion.

i understand what you're saying. the thing is that 90% of the people who play kog'maw exclusively play kog'maw

Or Kog's a prime target for scripters?

NodirjonSattarov1 votes

the most immobile, cc-less, squishiest champion is the prime target for scripters? ok

You're acting like Xerath doesn't exist. The point is that they got high damage locked behind accuracy. If they never miss, they pump out ridiculous damage.

If you don't miss spells or cancel auto attacks Xerath and Kog'Maw do the big damages.

Scripters play big damage champions because their programs make their damage hit more times than normal players.

Scripters don't need dodge spells because they press space bar and no spells will hit them. They don't need big juke champions and when they play big juke champions sometimes they juke spells that won't hit them and it makes them obvious scripters.

This is why scripters love to play Kog'Maw and Cassiopeia and Xerath.

Watched double lift the other day play against a high winrate kog scripter. The person admitted to scripting as well.

Also scripts make it so they auto dodge skill shots. It's not unbeatable but being immobile means nothing when a person scripts.

NodirjonSattarov1 votes

it's sad that people only associate kog'maw doing well to scripters lmao. what a joke

A Doorknob1 votes

I think you misinterpreted their information.

NodirjonSattarov1 votes

no i understand that ppl script on kog'maw but why would anyone script on the MOST immobile adc? what is there to gain? dps? just play kalista that can dodge skillshots substantially better. poke? script with varus or jhin. etc. etc.

A Doorknob1 votes

Kallista dmg is not remotely close to the amount that a kogmaw can input. The thing can drain multiples tanks faster than a Vayne, just strap a runnans to him.

you're joking right? BoRK provides so little lifesteal

In a meta where off-tanks are a thing right now, it makes sense that people would script with kogmaw with his dmg output. Were not talking life steal. Were talking damage per second. Bio-arcane barrage stacked with a Botrk+Runaans and w/e else people build on him, his dmg output can be insane. Sure, mobility is a weakness, but if people have scripts mobility isn't a necessity since auto dodge is activated anyways. That's what people are getting at. Script allows you to dodge abilities where requiring a kallista jump is more of a commodity than luxury. Sure people could script with lucian and Combo with him more efficiently, but at the end of the day you could simply pick kogmaw, dodge abilities, and kill everyone faster than your bio-arcane barrage ends. And let us not forget the hit rate a scripter gets; living artilery hurts when your low in hp and scripterss have a higher accuracy rate due to how a script functions.

This isn't to say the one trick ponies aren't out there and that they could be the reason that the win rate is so high. But it doesn't mean scripters don't exist. A scripter would easily inflate the win rate %. In season 6, kogmaw was a very popular pick amongst scripters due to his power advantage. Sure he's been reduced since then, but off-tanks are still very popular picks and kogmaw deals with them like fire does to paper. They're simply saying: because of kogmaws history of attracting scripters, it COULD be a factor.

Because when you script you don't need mobility to dodge. That is the point. You can play the most immobile champ ever with a script and not get hit by a skill shot. And at the same time land all of yours and do massive damage. Kalista's movement mechanics would probably be harder to script as well I would assume.

Not saying that there aren't good Kog players out there. Just saying he is one of the champs that people script with just like Xerath. Not everyone does but when you consider how little he is played those people may skew his winrate significantly.

Probably benefits quite a lot from the automatic QSS scripts or autododge scripts.

Cause you just up and didn't even look at the playrate... of less than 1.5%

NodirjonSattarov1 votes

i don't think you read the OP entirely. i essentially stated that

RivetAce1 votes

People only look at winrates and not play percents. Sure Sion support has been the top support for ages, but he's only in 1 out of every ~50 games or something like that.

Also, scripters.

NodirjonSattarov1 votes

its what i'm trying to explain in OP. kog'maw has been sub 1.5% for ages but high elo players inflate his win rate.

also, why would scripters use kog? there are 132 other champions that can be used for scripting with much better results.

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

scripters and mains only play him.

NodirjonSattarov1 votes

more of his players are his mains and they're the only ones that inflate his win rate.
