Yasuo and Kalista have in common

That people complain about them regardless of their power level, because their kits are toxic.

Yasuo:

  • I just ate your entire ult, probably even by accident!
  • I'm manaless so even if the opponent outplays me in lane, I just have to wait until he goes oom!
  • I have a shield, despite being manaless!
  • I get double crit chance because rolling a crit is #outplayed!
  • I can dash at any displacement including knockbacks, pulls and your own team's Trundle pillar!
  • I have infinite dashes!

He's sitting at 46% winrate and people still think he's overpowered because they hate him so much.

Kalista:

  • I'm immune to any melee champion in the game except Udyr!
  • I can soulbind without permission unless the target burns flash!
  • I can stun my own support in battle!
  • I deal % max health damage! (Always a crowd pleaser)
  • I have infinitely stacking damage!

She's sitting at 45% winrate and people finally stopped picking her but they still hate her. If she ever becomes viable, the board will drown in tears. She may end up being another Poppy, intentionally left unviable because the alternative would be worse.

Gnar and Fizz may have the same issue, but they actually are OP at the moment. I expect people to whine about them even after they get nerfed though.

It's pretty funny, actually.

The LoL community hates 'low skill' champions because they are 'too easy.' They HATE simple champions with simple mechanics and good numbers.

So Riot tosses high skill champions with lots of little mechanics that all have to be done in careful order. Champions you have to practice to make function at a high level. And who, even when played by professionals, are merely situationaly strong. And the community hates them too. Because if they are on your team, they have a low win rate so you lose more than you win. If they are on the enemy team, they give you something to complain about, even though you are more likely to win.

Really, most of the champions people hate are just ones that they don't understand or play like idiots against. You know Yasuo has Windwall, you know it has a long cooldown, so play like he has it. The same goes for Trynd ult, Fizz pole, Kayle ult, Kat resets and Trist resets. Its like when people fight against a champion that has a defining skill that that champion's kit completely relies on they shit themselves and forget how to play.

my problem with kalista is the same with Vayne, Graves, Lucian, and somewhat tristana (but not really). They all have on-demand mobility and easy escapes when the role of marksman is not suppose to have mobility in spades; thats the job of an assassin or jungler because they need it usually to catch up with high priority targets. ADCs don't need mobility very much at all, they just need good positioning.
