Riot's reform ideology and why it is failing me.

Hi. I'm a Ender of Hope and I'm a toxic player.

Now that that is in the open, I would like to declare that I really want to reform my attitude, but league of legends does nothing to lessen the potential for rage. A few examples:

  1. A friend of mine was playing a ranked game. From the beginning one of his teammates was disconnected. He decides to play anyhow, there is always the chance you can pull out a 4v5 right? At minute 12 he realizes how futile it is, and walks away to get a drink and relax until minute 20. After the game is over, he immediately receives a 12 hour suspension. This guy who I have never seen rage at a game begins to froth at the mouth with riot hatred. He told me if it weren't for all of us playing together he would have quit the game right then and there.

  2. Matchmaking in this game is a joke. Not so much elo, but your team composition in general. Why does it make sense that if I get relegated to mid because I'm last pick (and mid is my weakest position) and some one on the other team picks mid which is their strongest position, I am somehow expected to have fun going 1-7 in lane. Then, I will get verbally abused for the next 20 minutes. Then I will draw my own verbal abuse ban, because you know... Riot. How hard is it to make a system based off of a preffer queue? Prior to queuing I would set up my pref and riot matches me into a team that makes sense for my pref: Jung>adc>sup>top>mid. Ideally then I would never have to play mid or top.

  3. There are no rewards for reform. I am a toxic player when I'm matched with people who feed/ are inexperienced/ complain/ go afk. Yet there is no way to punish someone who is say, inexperienced. So what you queued for rank playing a champion that you've never tried. You just wasted 20 minutes of my precious time (yes I have a full time job and a family so every game matters to me). However there is no way to punish people that pull something like this. There is only punishment for me and my kind. Those of us who refuse to accept second rate play. Those of us who will not give in to the 'it's just a game' care bear mindset.

Until riot creates an environment where everyone is placed on an even playing field, I guess I will keep my perma chat restriction.

  1. Your friend afk'd and expected to not get afk penalty?

  2. You play Ranked and expect everyone else to bow to you and let you get your pick?

  3. You want Riot to punish bad players because they simply aren't good enough, yet you just told us you are bad at mid and want sympathy?

This has nothing to do with Riot and everything to do with you personally

  1. While 4v5 is unpleasant, the fact was your friend left a game and made it a 3v5. If the person who made it 4v5 should be punished for ruining the game then why shouldn't the person who made it even worse? His team were willing to give it a shot and he decided not to help.

I have 0 sympathy for your friend purely because he is just as bad as the other person who quit so complaining about it makes him a hypocrite.

  1. Yes, getting your worst role is annoying. Yes, it is even more annoying when you are forced into it and people complain that you are not good at it.

That does not mean you need to start flaming people in return. You are not forced to, you choose to. Get some self control and take responsibility for your own actions.

If people force you into a role and they flame you for doing badly simply say "I said I did not want to be in this role, but you forced me to, so stop complaining and take it yourself next time." then mute them instantly afterwards and concentrate on the game.

  1. Says it all really. You openly admit to being an unpleasant player yet make excuses for it. You try and blame it on everyone except yourself. Riot shouldn't need to provide incentive for you to act like a decent human being. The fact that you think they do truly does say all we need to know about you.

You sound like a horrible person to play with. The fact that you're permanently chat restricted gives me hope that the system is working.

If you continue being toxic and terrible, I hope you eat a permaban.

  1. Don't do that.
  2. You won't get LeaverBustered for one leave. It's gotta be a pattern of behavior.

Why does it make sense that if I get relegated to mid because I'm last pick (and mid is my weakest position) and some one on the other team picks mid which is their strongest position, I am somehow expected to have fun going 1-7 in lane. Then, I will get verbally abused for the next 20 minutes.

Try telling your team, up front, that you're a bad mid player. Most players will remember that they forced you into playing your worst role and will relax on the abusing you for sucking thing.

Also, going 1-7 in lane isn't a thing that should happen. Even if I play against Bjergsen and I picked Poppy mid for some reason, I won't die 7 times. Rule of thumb -- 0-2 equals cower under turret and wait for the laning phase to end.

They're working on a ranked team builder thing. Probably you'll see it this year.

I'm pretty worried about the queue times. Riot already has enough problems with normal team builder, and in ranked you have to keep the players all coming from a narrow MMR band.

There are no rewards for reform. ... However there is no way to punish people that pull something like this. There is only punishment for me and my kind. Those of us who refuse to accept second rate play.

There are rewards for reform. Free skins. Free IP boosts. Shiny ribbons. Not getting chat restricted or banned. The reward for you to reform will never be punishing other players for playing badly.

Every game has a winner and a loser. For every carry, there's a feeder. The guy who carries this game will be the guy who feeds in another game.

The game can make you lose. The game cannot make you rage. Take responsibility for your actions.
