Modernization reworks.
What if we rework a champion not because they are broken, but simply because they have outdated mechanics that prevent them from fitting into the modern game or are just simply unfun to play compared to newer champions?
For example. Take Twisted Fate. He throws three cards that you kind of just either aim (if you play tf) or sidestep (if you're laning against him.) He has some decision making in his Pick a Card and Ult combo, but that's all he has. That's the limit of his depth. He also has a spell that does nothing but strengthen his autoattack.
What if we reworked him not because he's overpowered, not because he's underpowered, but because his mechanics and kit are just terribly outdated?
If you happen to disagree with TF being limited mechanics-wise, just look at Yasuo, Ekko, and even Reksai has more complexity and decision making in her kit. And what do those three champions have in common?
They're all new.
If you had assurance that they wouldn't screw up a modernization rework (too weak, too strong, no longer thematically fitting to previous iteration) would you allow them to do it? If you know for a fact that it will be better than it was before, without letting paranoia affect your opinion?
What do you think?
