Would Xul's Bone Prison from Heroes of the Storm be mechanically acceptable in League?

Ryze recently got his W changed so that if you want to root someone you first have to hit them with E, requiring that he give up something else. Helps to make it less obnoxious and less oppressive.

But while playing Xul in Heroes of the Storm, I couldn't help but wonder if his Bone Prison would be acceptable in League since it's moreorless a point-and-click root. Unlike Ryze's snare, however, Bone Prison takes 2 seconds before it actually roots its target, giving them time to reposition or use an ability that can negate it.

Would that 2 second delay make a point-and-click root acceptable?

We have it basically on Karma and Nocturne (it's a hard CC so same concept)

I think the leash mechanic is more healthy than a guaranteed CC.

Thing is, immediate point & click cc is basically the only reliable counter to hyper-mobile champions.

Haven't you heard? Riot doesn't want counterplay to hyper-mobility! [slayer-jinx-catface] /s

Well aware of that, and all the more disheartening for it.

Xul's version doesn't require a tether, but his version doesn't allow for a self-heal or Fear effect.

So it's more boring and has less counterplay

Well, remember that Xul is melee and has no mobility, whereas Karma and Nocturne can boost their speed.

So a variant of Zoe

Not quite. Xul's is point-and-click, Zoe's is a skillshot. They also inflict different CC's.
