Tokens, Chests, Essence . . . I'm confused

Okay I was new and never got S rank when they rolled out the get a chest for S rank thing. Now they have the tokens and I have gotten 2 each for the champions I am best with. But I don't have any Blue essence and I don't know how to get Chests anymore, bc all I get is tokens or nothing for scoring S. Now I have all these keys and Tokens and Nothing to do with them.

And While we are on the subject what is the benefit of Mastery Level 6 & 7. Am I really supposed to use Essence just to get a purple border around my Champ while the game is loading?! That doesn't seem like a good deal. I'd rather use that for champs and skins which I can't because instead of chests all I get is a stupid TOKEN I CAN'T USE!!

Does any one know how this works?

If you go in the store, you can now buy a random champion shard for 1700 IP. You can then unlock the champion or change it into blue essence to upgrade your mastery.

You can buy a mystery champion shard for 1700 ip then disenchant it. The benefit is you can spam it in game

Best advice I can give you is to do whatever you want with your stuff.

They decided to hide Mastery 6 and 7 behind hextech crafting as part of a money dig to get people to spend money on chests so that they could advance in mastery. So you have to choose one or the other. There is no right answer, just pick what you prefer.
