The game's less enjoyable than ever.

I think I started in like 2013 on an alt, created this account in 2016, and had more fun throughout than I had through this one season.

I don't know what's up Riot's ass up with Riot recently, but... just, legitimately, I have had less fun this entire season than I have had with any other game, no matter what it was. Absolutely broken matchmaking with no statistics shown to explain why the fuck there's a high-MMR in my low/medium-MMR game. Ridiculous champion/item/summoner balance.

Every game I play where it isn't an even match, I'm just sitting back saying "Very funny, Riot. Why the fuck am I still playing this pile of burning garbage? Oh, right, friends drag me back. What a waste of my fucking time." Rarely, if ever have I felt like I'm fighting someone whose testing my skills, and yet for some reason I have an odd fascination with fighting people equal to me: it's so fun, it's so ferocious, enjoyable. Every match, this season, feels like it's not my personal skill on the line, but my willingness to pick certain champions or play-styles (hi, 2v3 Bot!) I may not enjoy.

Your game was popular in the first place was because it's competitive and a place to show off your own personal aptitude for a game you like/love. Balancing around the LCS (...when the LCS exists because of us players loving your game enough to climb to the top and compete with each-other in our own unique way (compare Dopa to Faker for reference)) will not work if no-one enjoys the game itself.

All of us want an honorable, enjoyable, possibly-bloody fight - an actual fight with any number of other people or bots, and not a meta-fest. There's no fun in prey that can't fight back, right? That's part of why this season is so frustratingly-stupid.

...well, rant over.

The matchmaking hasn't changed, its the snowball issue making it seem like its worse. Their matchmaking has always been questionable, but since the introduction of snowball runes, minor mistakes are punished SO hard that even tiny differences in skill can result in a lost game, with no chance to stop it meaning even if you are more skilled than another laner that fed, you can't beat them because they are ahead.

People keep chanting "oh I'll come back mid season when they fix the botlane" but while that will fix a major issue, its not the issue that's making the game feel like shit, its the snowball. As for them even addressing botlane, well I'm not holding my breath on that either, just like I have less confidence every day that riot will pull their head out of their ass long enough to get enough oxygen to realize the snowball is the number one issue ruining the game.

What do you mean by snowball issue?

Cavesloth1 votes

Once a player is ahead enough (2-3 kills in most cases, but sometimes as little as just 1), they have such a huge advantage they have to outplay themselves, it doesn't matter how skilled you are, THEY have to seriously fuck up for them to die.

Its like a snowball rolling downhill, once it picks up speed it will grow bigger and bigger at exponential rate, and once its big enough, almost nothing can stop it.

remakoro1 votes

Id be honest. I have no idea what you are talking about. Yea if you are 2-3 kills behind you are most likely in deep ass. Especially if your champion was supposed to be stronger at this stage of the game. What changed? It always were like that. Nothing changed. And well. i dont see anything wrong with champion that has more gold being stronger. If you want to beat him you have to outplay him in some way. I really dont see anything new or wrong here. Even if you are behind by 1 kill it does not hurt that bad in gold as it did in previous seasons when you didnt get so much gold for nothing and ended up running like beggar without single item after losing your lane.

Cavesloth1 votes

You don't know what changed? The runes update man. Runes giving advantages for kills that cause snowball. Before that, being ahead just meant you a some stat advantages from level and items you bought. Now its items, levels and runes, and the runes add up fast.

remakoro1 votes

But... Most rune paths dont give such bonuses. Thats mostly for precision and domination. And most of all. It didnt affect numbers at all.

Funny because the class people complain about most takes BOTH OF THOSE.

Also numbers don't always tell the whole story. Understanding the numbers and knowing how numbers can be made to lie is equally important (do you really believe 4 out of 5 dentists chew trident? Rofl) A good example is awhile back someone posted the average game times by elo and tried to use the fact that bronze games had hardly decreased to refute the whole "games are shorter" argument and it feels bad losing for 10-15 minutes when games are decided by 10 minutes. Saying "see, bronze games have hardly decreased so they must not be decided so early", ignoring the obvious facts the reason games are longer in bronze is because even when the game is effectively over, bronzies do NOT know how to end like a plat or diamond, or even know that the game is effectively over and won't surrender like plat or diamond who knows its over would.

As one of those "never surrender" types, I would know if comebacks are possible. Out of HUNDREDS of games trying, I had 1, all fucking season. Games feels like shit, so I just stopped playing, and I was HARDCORE addicted to LOL. I ALWAYS got my daily, I ALWAYS earned my chests each week, I ALWAYS completed all the missions, and I stopped playing because of this shit.

Your graphics show nothing that disproves the snowball, because snowball is about kills, not just objectives. The only thing that graphic tracks that even mildly relates to this is first blood, and I get first blood as support pretty often when we invade, can I snowball? No I'm not a snowball class. Now if it had a graphic about your chances of winning once an ADC is 3-0, 4-0, or 5-0 (or how classes stack up based on that score) that'd be info that relates to this.

If riot released all their data, then maybe that'd be possible, but they don't so gl with that.

You are not wrong but all the things mentioned there are in direct correlation with snowball. No matter how you roll around it - team with advantage most likely will be the first one to take inhib for example. So If they lost game after that - means other team made comeback. Yet that number are kind of set in stone. Thats just one little example. Data can be misinterpreted but it cannot lie cuz it tells us nothing more than its numbers.

And even those numbers kinda do disprove snowball. To be more precise they make it look like snowball didnt really get that much worse. Otherwise first tower and first blood would have increased amount of wins percentage in this season compared to previous. Yet it didnt grow at all.

Cavesloth1 votes

Yeah, I'm not gonna argue with someone either clearly hasn't been playing long or is just a riot fanboy in denial of how bad the game has gotten.

I gave you great examples of how data can lie, or be misinterpreted. So either you aren't playing and haven't experienced it, or your just one of those fanboys whose has been drinking the kool-aid way too long.

i stoped playing around 1 and half weeks and honestly my mental health improved a lot, probably wont come back until i see mid season patch and if things keep going like now i will just enter to play the monthly ranked game and wait for next season.

I am actually enjoying playing dead cells, hollow knight, some csgo and i started to walk again so sometimes pokemon go, surprisingly a lot of people still plays

I play fortnite and other games. When I play with friends I'm stuck laughing for hours on end. Then I play league and turn into a toxic asshat. Pretty sure something is wrong with league.

Oh my God, so much this. I honestly HATE MYSELF every time i play League for all the Shit i need to vent just to stay sane whilst playing. Flaming was never my Problem Ingame, but in Reallife, i suddenly slur pure unfiltered Hatred that im surprised my Brother even still plays with me.

This NEVER happened at ANY other Game before and its really getting to me.

Completely agree here, minus the friends dragging me back part. They mostly quit a season or more ago, lol. I myself finally had enough a couple of days ago, and uninstalled. As someone that's played since Nocturne was released and seen a ton of dumb shit in this game, this season has been the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Shit, even WINNING is miserable now. The whole LC$ first, fuck everyone else mindset is really frustrating and sad to see. I hope Riot rights the ship, because I would like to enjoy playing a game that I used to spend hours on with friends just trying fun comps and actually having a legit chance to win.
