Midlaners now take it because so long as they stay below the 10 CS per 5 minutes mark, they will make more than they would by straight CSing so long as they only take the cannon & melee minions. Maybe buffing the cannon minions' worth wasn't the wisest? Idk, it seems like it makes all support items abusable when 75% of the gold in a wave is in a single minion.
The cycle of buffs and nerfs continues.
Support items get buffs, everyone else gets them nerfed.
Honestly, that doesn't sound that bad -- you're trading the ability to control and shove minion waves (and thus the ability to open up good opportunities to roam unpunished) for a bit more gold.
I pointed this out when they released the new support items. You can hit your full jungle item by 2nd back easily without factoring in kills/assist if you funnel right.

I did the math and everything. Duo support bottom is viable, especially since it maintains pressure bot since jungle will be funneling from there.
You get like 17% increased jungle gold income that way. And thats being relatively inefficient at it. I think it capped at like 30%.
And supports (whether duo bot or support mid) gain full gold from farming still.
This honestly sounds like it's really only profitable on people like LeBlanc who already cant farm. You're giving up your ability to manage your lane properly to attempt to Leeroy Jenkins a person...in the middle of their minion wave...that you can't properly manage...
The new Support items are bad in general. Support hate them and others are abusing them.
