I strongly dislike the new LCS Varus build

Currently, LCS players seem to have an unhealthy fascination with the Muramana/Lethality Varus build.

Now, there were a few games when that build looking good - these were game in which Varus' poke was really valuable, against teams that had Jayce in top lane and a squishy jungler.

However, when the enemy team has a tank (dislike "supertank" as a word, too - those are just your regular tanks!) in the top lane, potentially a Rek'Sai or an Armor-building Lee Sin in the jungle, that build always fails to make a dent - as it essentially means that Varus can't make good use out of his W and the buff to his passive due to lacking the necessary AS.

Yea, I dislike Lethality builds on Varus too. I tried them, crit is just soo much better.

I feel like this build should be used on midlane Varus, not the Bot version of him.

New? Where were you last season where varus was only seen mid and that was the only thing built on him?

I main Varus and I've been playing him back in season 5 &6 before he got his popularity. Even though in season 5 & 6 I would go crit Varus over armor pen. I like the buffs to lethality and the Varus build coming back. The changes to lethality means it doesn't fall off nearly as hard late game compared to when people built armor pen. The buffs allow for more flexibility, between crit Varus, lethality Varus, and the Korean bork Varus, you get a lot of option depending on team comp and situation. Crit Varus focus is on team fighting and late-game, lethality Varus focus is on poke and early-game, and bork Varus focus is on one-v-one and mid-game. This makes Varus an amazing first or second pick now as you can change your build to fit with the team comps. While I think crit Varus is still the best overall, there are situations in which the other builds do even better.
