Most Fighter items are toward AD champions

What about Alistar, Ekko, Gragas and so on?

AP fighters? there are like 2...? ekko and alistar arent fighters. ekko is an assassin and alistar is a tank. so you would build assassin and tank items on them respectively anyway moving on.

well... it depends on what you mean by AP fighter. is it a fighter that has AP scalings or is it a fighter that deals magic based damage? those are two entirely different things.

and then there are the different variations of fighters that have various functions.

anyway all of that aside - there are 2 requirements for being a fighter. 1 your defense is not strong enough to be considered a tank and 2 is that your damage isnt assassin level.

anything else pretty much goes. so with that being said you're an all-arounder.

the best item for ALL figthers is sheen. usually the tri-force version. with champs that require a high amount of AP sometimes it's better to go with lich bane. if your champ cant lock down opponents or is squishier than normal for a fighter it might be better to get frozen gauntlet.

second dont try to rely on lifesteal to keep you alive. most champs that are fighters have built in lifesteal and or some form of shield. any competent team that sees you trying to build sustain is going to shut you down with grievous wounds or tabi since most fighters are basic attackers. so your first and most important goal is to overload your opponents defenses in order to benefit from your own personal sustain that will be built into your kit.

cooldown reduction is great too because it helps with your ability spamming in order to stay alive or lock down your opponent so you can force the fight. nashoors tooth will help you with this by providing you with 20% cdr and a way to farm without spending mana.

Wits end is a must have for primarily magic damage based fighters. all fighters can basic attack and if you're getting lich bane and nashoors you will have no reason not to get wits end.

boots would be mercury treads or tabi for that extra defensive stat. or if you want to try and make your champ an assassin you can build sorcery boots

phantom dancer is still good on an ap fighter.

abyssal mask and adaptive helm can be crucial items.

if you're spamming a ton of low cooldown abilities you may be able to stack muramana or archangel staff.

void staff, morellonomicon, and other forms of magic penetration are always good.

guinsoos compliments nicely with the oh-hit of most fighters.

hextec will let you slow and heal.

Same items as every ap champion, it makes no difference as long as it has ap. It's the same issue diana has. Build anything ap because there's nothing else

The problem with ap fighters is that riot gives tanks ap scaling. When they should be giving tanks bonus hp scaling. So any ap fighter items will be more effective on tanks.

Alistar is a tank, Ekko is an assassin, and Gragas is an AP diver.

Alistar is a tank, Ekko is an assassin, and Gragas is an AP diver.

Assassins are an extra class which contains both fighters and mages, and who have high mobility with a "get in get out" gameplay. Ekko, a melee caster who scales off of AP, Is an AP fighter. He is also a skirmisher - an assassins sub class who gets in, gets out, and goes back in.

As fighter is a broad class, Alistar, a melee champion who scales off of AP, can be considered an AP fighter if he builds for it.

Gragas, who is in fact an AP diver, is also a fighter due to divers being a sub class of assassin. They are champions who lack the "get out" part of the "get in get out" gameplay.

Assassins, fighters, and mages are all separate classes. Skirmishers are a sub class of fighters, so are divers. Assassins have no sub classes since they all have the same goal; to kill high priority targets quickly. Mages have two sub classes, fighters have three, supports have two, and tanks have two. Ekko is a pure assassin. He is unique because of his hard cc, but he has one goal and one way to play. Alistar is a warden, a tanky engager. Building ap on him would be called trolling. Gragas, like you said, is an AP diver but that is a sub class of fighters. He and Rumble are the only two champs in the game currently that could even be considered AP fighters.

Divers are champions with an assassination pattern who do not have a get out mechanic. They are largely comprised of fighters, as just about every diver is melee.
Vi, for example, is a diver. Rengar is also a diver.

Skirmishers are a type of assassin who prefer short fights in which they deal some burst, walk out, and then mobility back in. Ekko is a skirmisher. Evelyn is a skirmisher. (Although evelyn enjoys a true assassin playstyle due to safety and burst she is still designed to go in, pop some damage off, then back out for cooldowns before going back in for the kill. When theres team fights, this is often exactly what she does)

Unlike Diver or Skirmisher which denote a champions general kit and playstyle, "AP fighter" is an incredibly broad spectrum more defined by your build than kit. If Alistar builds for it, he can be one. Much like how any champion can be a 'tank' if they build for it.

Vi is a diver, yes, but Rengar was an assassin and then Riot couldn't make up their mind about what they wanted him to be so he is now a diver.

"Skirmishers (also known as Duelists) aim to shred through any nearby enemy that approaches. Because Skirmishers lack high-end burst damage or reliable ways of closing in on high-priority targets, they are instead armed with situationally powerful defensive tools to survive in the fray, along with extreme sustained damage to cut down even the most durable targets."

Ekko is an assassin in the purest form. There really truly isn't an argument to be made for him being part of another class. Evelynn is an assassin too lol skirmishers are a sub class of fighters. Examples are Jax, Fiora, Tryndamere, and Riven.
