Riot trying too hard to turn this game into something no one wanted.

You have shorter game modes already made. Go with that. Drop the pure shit you keep pushing onto the rift.

They're making a tv show. Stop watching LCS if you want something to change.

Unfortunately, they'll keep trying to change the game to get you to watch it.

A better idea would be... go watch all of the very longest VODs, repeatedly.

Why can't they just have "Professional Rules"? And let us keep playing the previous version...

there are people who want the game like this. just not here.

this is a chinese game now, and theyre catering to the asian market. korean and chinese players dont play the game at home like westerners. they majority of them plays in internet cafes and they try to cram as many games as possible into the day to make the most of the time theyre paying for.

yes, this game is turning to shit because of it. no, its not going to change. if anything its going to still get worse.

Yep. Because, as large as those Asian playerbases are, they're not nearly as big as they can be

Please explain why Tencent only does this 6-7 years after buying out Riot, and some 5+ years after already being extremely popular and enjoyed by every other Asian player in China, Korea etc with 30-40 min games being just fine?

Also, in countries such as China, internet cafe virtually died off until about 3-4 years ago, as it would appear most people simply turned to playing games at home. And if they have to play League on demand, Tencent already has that covered anyway with another IP of their own, Mobile Legends; and indeed, it's very popular for players who want League at every opportunity. While the biggest reason why internet cafe even bounced back in say China recently was less about people wanting to play games, but more because people wanted to watch tournaments live with other gamers. Not to mention, DOTA/Dota2 which has always had a solid game length, has always been super popular in China without any problem (China playerbase alone is the majority of all Dota players), with or without internet cafe; so it's not like game length was ever an issue.

Koreans seems to have far more use with internet cafes than Chinese by comparison. But since they were never relly bothered by LoL's previously longer average game, I highly doubt they were the reason behind the game's increasingly and artificially faster pacing. Or maybe they were, because Koreans never touched DOTA/Dota2, and has always favoured competitive games with shorter game length like Overwatch and Starcraft/2.

But really, I'd wager all of this comes down to Riot trying everything to make tournaments more "exciting to watch", and that it is really what killed League's game pacing, not internet cafes. Maybe some elements from Koreans and Riot trying to please them as per their hype as the lords of League of Legends, but for the very most part I would just say it's the tournaments.
