Supports need a mana item

Most support items give mana regeneration, but a lot of supports have either small mana pools or very high mana costs. Janna has 3 abilities that cost more than 100 mana if I'm not mistaken. Can there be an item for them that gives flat mana instead of regeneration?

Just an idea since it's better to post with a solution. Tome of Revitalization Cost: 2200 Builds from: Lost Chapter, Saphire Crystal +450 mana +30 AP Unique Passive: Upon level up, restore 20% of your mana over 3 seconds Unique Active: Grant an aura to all nearby teammates that increases mana regeneration by 150% over the next 6 seconds

Yeah, number would need to be tweaked, but still think they could use it so they can back less and stop falling so far behind on exp.

Mana is for Mages mainly, Mana Regen for Supports mainly. Maybe have Athene's and/or other Mage Support items give Mana instead of Mana Regen?

LEAVE ATHENE ALONE, IT'S FINE AS IT IS!

Could use +10 or 20 AP on the baby and some passive charges on cc-debuffs-buffs applied, rest is perfect.

Don't give it more AP we don't need more items for Zyra, Brand and Malzahar bot lane.

If items designed for Supports around utility also happened to give about 60 Ability Power I doubt Zyra, Brand, or Malzahar would be all too interested because they would have to trade in damage for that utility (which wouldn't be all together bad).

Except mages like Brand don't care about AP as much as most others, as his secret sauce is magic pen. Max health damage means that he doesn't necessarily need AP that badly.

If you truely know how to play support then you know not to spam your abilities for no reason. Janna's not an trade support, U usually keep your W for slowing pple down or disengage because it kills your ms if you use it

Frozen Heart gives mana increase and benefits your team, then there is Zekes, redemption, ardent censor, Mikaels, Righteous Glory. etc etc etc

Honeslty, the real issue is just that supports need less stupidly small mana pools.

Mana regen once you have enough of it basically buys you into being recoursless at the cost of optimal mana pool and scaling and damage, which is a fair tradeoff for the support role.

I believe keeping smaller mana pools on supports ensures bot is not a support meta and adc becomes secondary to the ubsurd utility and sustain that supports would have early game

I personally believe that part of this is to prevent the support-centric champs from becoming midlaners and/or carrying the bot lane at the cost of the adc. If they have larger mana pools where they can freely cast their spells without needing to keep tabs on their mana (as much) it would change the game quite significantly

If that were the case, every mage would have their mana bar reduced because they get placed botlane as supports. Im sure at one point this was the reasoning and ti was valid, but i think it deserves to be reviewed.

and/or carrying the bot lane at the cost of the adc. what is this even supposed to mean?

I dont see how. I dont want/am not asking to give them large mana pools. But their mana pools especially compounded by their mana costs is quite excessive is some cases.

Mana regenn is fine for supports. It would also be kinda hard to balance a brand new item just for them (Redemption anyone?) I also don't think that it's the reason that supports getEXP deprived...

The reason supports get more mana/health regen is because they're supposed to be able to sustain as long as they need to for their team and to be a little more resistant to poke because of this.

Mages, on the other hand, get more mana because they need to be ready to cast as many spells as possible at any time in case a teamfight breaks out, plus forces them to back if they have low mana since they can't afford to run out.

In my experience supports that don't use every ability as soon as it comes off of cooldown has no mana issues unless they're aalso a mage.
