Assassin rework was kind of ironic
They increased the amount of "counterplay" against the assassins by so much that almost none of them are played anymore and it's a tank meta. The only ones without counterplay are the most banned champion in the game
and the highest win rate jungler in the game
.
The assassins which are single target are doing very poorly
.
The most viable assassins which have aoe aren't even really assassins, they are teamfight nukers
. If you want evidence of that, leblanc's highest win rate builds take the 5% cdr cap and teleport, which are far from the expected assassin tools which would be magic pen and ignite.
So assassins have so many problems to balance for game health, while still actually being assassins
-assassins with lots of counterplay suck, and just aren't played -assassins with no counterplay are too strong and not fun to be deleted by -assassins with a long window for max damage don't build like assassins and build for teamfight spell rotations -assassins with a short window for max damage have too low counterplay
This rework really showed the huge question here: can single target assassins be both strong/viable and still be healthy/fun?
