I'm excited for them. They're cute together, and both look like a blast to play.

The ADC seems unique with her ult

the Support seems to be multiple support combined in the same champions, people will love him because he's mobile. i'll hate him because he doesn't bring anything new

Papa Andrei7 votes

He brings engaging gameplay.

Ahristocats1 votes

so Sion ?

idk, if he brought engaging gameplay i don't know why his kit focuses on shielding and healing

Papa Andrei5 votes

Rakan is engaging cause of HOW he does it. Same with Sion. Sion is fun and satisfying to use. So is Rakan.

Ahristocats1 votes

which just confirms i'm right, he isn't new just recycling old things

You only see the abilities as units but not the kit as whole, there has never been a support this mobile and flashy, Rakan is going to be the playmaker of support role. Unique combination of an Enchanter and Disruptor.

Xayah on the other hand is what? Immobile Kalista with invulnerability for an exchange...

"unique combination of an enchanter and disruptor" that doesn't really matter what combination he is, since it's still a combination of old things, the only thing new is the combination but in the end i don't see something new it's like creating a champion with half of irelia kit and j4 kit aka camille and calling it unique

he's not going to have a niche at all, balance talk it's a problem

that's still unique giving her a niche against some champions

What the fuck

Most champions ever are categorizable only by one of the classes, making a champion fitting two is unique, especially in this case of combination. Most of characters in their class are unique, how can you say he's not unique because he fits in a class?!

And on the other way you say Xayah is unique, while her playstyle is another champion (not a class, a champion!) just because her ult is different (otherwise it's AAing untill there are enough feathers to E), which also is entirely not because it's a "safe button" aswell as Kalista's?

Either you are a hypocrite biased against mobile champions or something, or you have no idea about champion design.

Edit: I'm sorry, I sure was pretty offensive, but you pissed me off with that logic xD

The Last Ballad6 votes

So is a champ using other champs mechanics with something new added in unique or not unique? Because that is both of these champs. Xayah is a mix of Kalista without a hop, Sivir's w(waveclear and as boost) and Twitch ult's passthough, with untargetiblility on her ult, and Rakan is a mix of Lux shield(streanth of sheild + # of times it can be applied), alistar combo, and Sona heal, with dashes added, but with a charm+speedboost ult.

Accomplishing something that has already done, but in a new way? Is that not innovation?

DeathBurst1 votes

Oh ffs, you're so negative it's tiring... Ultimately, 99.9% of Champions are just "recycling old thing", except on the very rare occasion where they create a brand new effect like Grounded on Cassio or Polymorph on Lulu or some other effect that no other Champ ever had before (and even then, one could argue that Polymorph is just some flavorful quasi-stun). If you cut any kit in small enough pieces, you can find those pieces in previous kits... I can do it for Sion if you want.

But if you're being honest, Rakan gameplay as a whole is very much novel. The jury is still out about "engaging", but Rakan definitely plays more like a Lee Sin than a Sona/Soraka/Janna/Lulu, and that's a brand new experience for a Champ in the support position.

Name me one more support that can charm tho.

Ahristocats1 votes

thing is the adc will be picked against zed/rengar

the support? i don't find any unique situation for him except if he's numerically stronger

having a charm doesn't give you a niche

Nymzo2 votes

Well first of all for the obviously Xayah and Rakan combo.

There's also the fact that since he's so squishy and mobile, he will probably be strong agaisnt enchanters (since they can't fight back as effective as other supports), immobile adcs.

He will probably be good against other disrupters (skill match up) too, especially Blitz.

However, against Warden like Leo or Ali, he might struggle a bit.

The Last Ballad3 votes

What about those times that a team needs cc/initiation, but the support sucks at tanks? Would not a mobile enchanter with cc and initiation be helpful then?

When thinking about "where can this camp be used" you also need to also think about people's' playstyles. I like the enchanter playstyle, but I am overtly aggressive and like to force fights, but that makes me weaker playing as them. And tanks? Can't do it on a support budget(in other roles I am fine). Now though? I will have an aggressive enchanter to play with.

And not everyone likes every champ. Some might like a certain playstyle, or aspect of a champ, but loath the champ that fulfills it. Having multiple champs that do similar jobs is useful, as long as they do it differently(No Sejuani and Amumu ). Need a safe adc? Caitlyn Ezreal Tristana. Yet, do they accomplish their jobs in the same way? No. Want a champ that can dive deep into the enemy team, and come out alive? Camille Ekko LeeSin Kled.

So while Rakan will fulfill the same role as other enchanters, please tell me how his gameplay will be similar to Janna, Soraka, Sona, Karma or Nami .

yeah he's mobile... supp and mobile its new, no ??

But for me both don't bring anything new...

I think it's pretty cool. I need twice the champ shards to get both of them though :(

Cute Poro4 votes

I love them both! I can't wait to play them!

I like the idea of two champions released together that have special synergy with eachother and all, but I really disliked the champions themselves.

Still I hope it leads to Riot revising old champions and adding special synergies to them as well. Like make Vi & Cait's special passive "On The Case", or Jinx vs Cait/Vi "On The Run" be actually meaningful like Rakan's and Xayah's.

hhaavviikk3 votes

I'm just excited there's finally a new support after waiting for so bloody long

Knoyle3 votes

I'm going to be honest. I'm skeptical about it. On one hand I like that Riot does add new things to make things fresh but at the same time some of these new champions have been disasters. On release Camille was an atrocity. Kindred been put in the dumpster and TahmKench is in a crappy spot too. Nobody knows what the hell Kled is but that's probably the point and I'll give it a pass on that.

My biggest concern is the idea that they get a buff when played on the same team. This alone gives me reason to believe they will either be TOO good together or not good enough without eachother or perhaps even both.

Reminds me of the good old days, where we goit 2 new champions each week xD

BladeSingularity1 votes

Exactly how long ago was that now? I forget ...

Raoul1 votes

long... I think the last duo release was Pantheon/Gragas ^^

BladeSingularity1 votes

Right ... Season 1.

Wow ... that's a long time.

We didn't get 2 champs in 1 week regularly.

It was more like 1 champ every 5 weeks or so. Xin Zhao was like 3 weeks after Kog, right?

Dominick Destine3 votes

One is feminist propaganda, the other is just dumb.

I like the art design, but the vocal performance and lines are unbearable. What happened to the days when ancient beings from a mystical race sounded....y'know.... MYSTICAL ? instead these two sound like Jersey Shore drop-outs.

MisterSki2 votes

Yes you are. This is just two new champs that make bad players have two new options to screw games over and not just one.

Warlord Scrap2 votes

The important question is are they dropping 2 6300 ip champs price sine its 2 champs or just 1 since its one release

BladeSingularity1 votes

I hope it's two. Probably, seeing as there are quite a few champs overdue for price drops.

Warlord Scrap1 votes

i hope for everyone its 2 but i really hope they do a bundle of both together with skins for around 2500 rp or just the champs for 1500

BladeSingularity1 votes

Well, I'd like to start with just buying one (I know I want Xayah, not sure yet if I want Rakan since I suck at support), so individual bundles would be nice too.

Warlord Scrap1 votes

idk this whole situation is a first from riot so i guess well see soon. Hopefully they dont wait too long into the patch to release them although galio was released on patch day when he was reworked.

OurLestrade1 votes

Not fond of the characters, and there's balance implications with having two at once. Only thing that's interesting for me is that it's a mobility support at long last, but that's been heavily bogged down by all the other gripes.

CannonLordFreed1 votes

I really like Rakan, and that we're finally getting a support with mobility. I about died laughing listening to his voice lines, mostly. Xayah just kinda seems like Twitch 2.0 though...

Arakadia1 votes

I'd say she'd completely outclass Twitch if she wasn't on the weaker side because her E can be AoE without attacking multiple enemies. But Twitch has his stealth, something no other ADC can compete with.

EinarUlfar1 votes

Support main with a duo partner since the days I started League. Extremely excited for this release. Not excited for the potentially hardAF time trying to get to pick Rakan in Draft pick, though. ;_;

BladeSingularity1 votes

Actually, the last time two champions were released in one patch was Season 1, with Gragas and Pantheon.

So, two at once is nice.

Knalxz1 votes

It wigs me our pretty hard since a Rioter awhile ago said that it's not good for LoL to have more champions and then they just release two at the same time. I only imagine that person is sitting in a dark, damp room tied to a pole screaming "YOU FOOLS!" at the Riot Games higher ups.

tthantheman1 votes

they remind me of Ahri 's cousins lmao. When do they come out in NA?

3/4 of ranked community won't be happy though in the first 2 weeks after these 2 champions get released. ^^
