Nerf thresh please

BoilTheOil··15 votes·673 views

There is literally nothing he can't do he can zone, peel, engage, give him team a free pass, give his jungler a new way to gank, and also deal tons of damage early. He also has one of the highest play rates and highest win rates he shouldn't be able to do so much he needs a nerf badly.

Shhhh.

Uninformed, biased nerf threads for champs that dont need nerfs are meant to be about Yasuo.

?

Thresh has been unarguably the best support in the game with the highest pickrate for like six or seven patches now despite quite a few meta shifts. He definitely needs a nerf.

Yeah, but he can hardly do everything. For starters, he can't heal, which is a considerably more powerful trait than shielding. Main post is an exaggerated salt post, presumably after losing a game to a Thresh. Overtuned is one thing, "literally good at everything" is another.

Ok, and Draven has no attack speed steroid.

Doesn't mean he's not broken right now. The post is a bit salty, sure, but Thresh needs a goddamn nerf. It's been patches now of highest support winrate by almost a percent and a half and the biggest pickrate in the game to boot.

does draven w give attack speed and ms on basically no cd because it gets reset on axe catch?

I thought W only gave MS?

Then learn to support. It's the most fun role :)

bard best champ

Most of the time, I play Bard Thresh and only play Rakan if I run into a Xayah. I'm hoping to pick up peel supports and tank supports.

No don't nerf him: nerfing him will do nothing.

Change his kit so he gets limited peel options like all disrupters/catchers.

SzGamer2271 votes

Other catchers have distinct strengths that Thresh doesn't. Bard Healing, utility, and roam power. Blitzcrank A much stronger and more immediate form of displacement. Ivern Dasiy, and the ability to jungle. Morgana AoE hard cc + zoning threat with ultimate. Rakan High mobility, AoE hard cc. Zyra Damage.

Thresh is a hard cc + peel monster because that's where the core of his identity is.

First of all, using the list Riot used about who is a catcher and who isn't is a bad idea because they gave almost no informations. That list is a mess.

Of all they and you listed, here are the only pure catchers: Blitzcrank Rakan

The rest are hybrid enchanter (Bard Ivern (he's a jungler too, why even counting him) Morgana or a ''support'' mage support if you prefer (Zyra). Of course they are going to be good at different things than Thresh if they have a different purpose/are hybrids.

Here's the list of who should be consider a pure catcher: Blitzcrank Rakan Thresh Zilean. I would also count Leona but she's basically a catcher in a tank support body.

All of them except Thresh have limited peel options.

SzGamer2271 votes

Out of all of them, Thresh is the only one with multiple peel options, Rakan is the only one with mobility and two forms of AoE hard cc, and Blitzcrank has the strongest displacement in the game. You can't make a case by pointing out a champion's distinct strengths because every champion has some.

The problem is that disrupters SHOULD have less peel options. They can still peel, but they are less effective at doing it than enchanters or even tank supports.

They sacrifice one thing to be better with another. Like enchanters sarcrifice snowball potiential for their adc to be better at peeling them, disrupters are the other way around.

Why do you think Thresh is strong? Because of his stats? No, he actually needs his passif. So if isn't the passif, what is it? When the stats aren't the problem, it's the kit.

^^ This. Thresh is like if you combined Nautilus and Tahm Kench into one champion and then gave him bonus move speed on top of that. His cc is far too strong for not only how fast he can move and how well he can save other units but also for how forgiving the cooldowns are on his kit. To be honest, I don't think Thresh even has a counter though I could be wrong (in which case I would like to know this counter so I have someone better to play against him q.q).

It also that he doesn't have the natural weakness of the disrupters: one being that they only have one reliable source of cc that they must land correctly in order to win the laning phase and the other is as I said, having bad peeling options because their cc is better on the offensive departement.

To be honest, I don't think Thresh even has a counter though I could be wrong (in which case I would like to know this counter so I have someone better to play against him q.q).

You can play a tank support to be safe or you can fight fire with fire and play another disrupter. Both scenario are skill matchups who also dependant on the adcs and junglers.

Picking an enchanter or a poke mage is most of the time a death sentence tho (pun not intended).

ahri gets shit for being a jack of all trades, im surprised thresh doesnt get assblasted more by the forum

SzGamer2271 votes

He's not a jack of all trades though, that's the thing. His strengths are very clearly defined in crowd control and durability. He's not a healer, he's not a damage threat unless you sacrifice his core strengths in favor of a gimmick build, and he's immobile.

Gank him with some physical damage early on and you'll be fine. Shut down his soul harvesting and feed off him and his lane partner and take the tower while you're at it. If you're a jungle that enjoys ganking, seeing Thresh on the enemy team should send a special feeling to your nerves.

BoilTheOil2 votes

see thresh is usually played with Draven Jhin Caitlyn because they are the only adcs that are worth playing and I get crowd controled for to long to do anything
