The Division of the Classes
So, it's become apparent that Riot is moving toward separating the old classes into multiple parts. The most notable has been the distinguishing of the Bruiser class from the rest of the tanks. Now, items are being tuned to fit these new roles within the game. While much progress has been made, there are some other classes that need to be separated and divided.
Tanks
-
Vanguard- Already confirmed to be the next class update, Vanguards are more of the traditional tanks: able to withstand an impressive amount of damage, provide strong cc, but with low to moderate damage at best. Tanks rely on base value damage and defensive stat scaling to get them through laning phase into teamfights, which is where their ability to provide strong cc and soak up damage shines.

-
Bruisers- Finally fleshing themselves out in the past two seasons, Bruisers are aggressive, but slow, tank/fighter hybrids. The hallmark of this class are executes and basic attack modifiers. Lacking in mobility, most Bruisers rely on one spell that can close gaps between their targets and them. Therefore, they can be kited with relative ease. Their true power lies in long, drawn out fights, both solo and teamfights, and are equipped to handle multiple enemies at once.

Fighters
-
Duelists- A class that has existed in all but name, Duelists are mobile fighters that utilize spells and basic attacks to deal consistent high rates of damage. Positioning is everything for a duelist, and their mobility allows them to reposition to a more advantageous location. Duelists have combat tricks to survive encounters, but often lack the tankiness to withstand burst damage.

-
Divers- On-hit, relentlessness and stickiness are the hallmarks of the diver class. Focusing on basic attacks over all else, divers are the premier 1v1 champions. Capable of melting down any other champion type from melee range, they rely on lifesteal and on-hit heals to stay alive. Separate them from their target, and they are easily taken care of.

Mages
-
Assassins- A class of champions that can melt enemy squishies, Assassins rely on their abilities entirely. Without them, they are dead weight.

-
Control Mages- A class of champions that rely on ranged AoE and crowd control to control the flow of the battle around them.

-
Healers- Support class champions whose main function is to provide sustain and cc for their team.

AD Carries
-
Marksmen- Ranged attack damage champions with an emphasis on range and critical strikes. Lack mobility, so must be protected from enemies from damage. Excellent at Siege.

-
Rangers- Ranged attack damage champions with an emphasis on mobility and attack speed. Lack range, so must put self into harms way.
