I thought she benefitted from attack speed more than anything? how does 1 item change fix her problems?

She wasn't that bad before the bork changes. A few patches back (7.1 I think) when they changed rend, she became a lot easier to play.

Kalista's numbers aren't that bad, dude. Her exact numbers (Bronze +) are:

Win Rate 49.7%, 8.4 / 7.2 / 7.3 but her popularity is just 2.3% (by far the lowest popularity of the 15 champions played primarily as an ADC atm)

Popularity level doesn't mean someone needs a buff or nerf, though. For example the second least popular ADC is Kog'Maw who has amazing stats:

Win Rate 54.0%, 8.6 / 7.0 / 7.4 and because its important to note that his damage is the highest of those previously mentioned ADC's at over 26K which is 5th in the whole game. (only 3.1% popularity)

Most popular is Ezreal:

Win Rate 48.9%, 7.1 / 5.6 / 8.5, 29% popularity

I feel they are all balanced decently atm with Kog maybe being a bit too strong but he's so unpopular you are only playing against him 3% of the time and not always against one that is good with him so no big deal.

Actually bork is only one of the reasons she is good again.

  1. other early game adc's and builds got nerfed (varus jhin lethality)
  2. the warlords change means lane bullies can punish harder because the other adc can't just heal up to full off one wave
  3. fervor got buffed and that is really big for her
  4. zyra and malz are falling out of the meta a bit, or at least arent as strong, so a lane bully adc can't get shut down as hard by a support pick

also the bork changes are really nice for early power because more ad early is worth the trade off for stronger rends and more auto attack damage (q auto rend combos hurt more)
