@Meddler - Can I have your opinion on Vel'koz's Current state and intentions on the PBE changes?

I'm seeing consistent buffs for Vel'koz on the PBE and it shows that you know that Vel'koz is underperforming. BUT DO you know why he is underperforming? what is he lacking?

I'll give you my opinion on what I think hurt Vel'koz since the changes:

  • You lowered his Passive's base damage > weaker early game ; I actually wanted you to lower his passive's base damage since you added scaling on it. BUT why nerf the damage pre lv6-7 when he has no items to make it stronger? -You removed passive stacks on his ultimate > weaker early game ; again same concept he has no AP to back up his strong 1.0 AP scaling ultimate for the majority of his laming phase so he results in lacking damage for landing full Combo.

old lv6 Velkoz full combo would apply his passive 3 times, and his passive had higher bases so that was a strong combo and made vel'koz devastating when he managed to combo his enemy. It was most likely a kill unless they flashed quickly after the knocup ended ( quick reaction )

NEw lv6 Vel'koz full combo applies passive only once and also has lower base damage. But he gets to do true damage on his ultimate, which might sound good but since he has no AP to back up his ultimate damage he can't kill his enemies. They don't have to react with flash the damage output is just way too low at lv6.

You nerfed his early game way too much.

I've been seeing consistent SCALING BUFFS on the PBE For him which is the Wrong way to go ! -1.25 AP ratio on his ulti ? why? is 1.0 weak? -0.5 AP scaling on his Passive ???? WHy?? he scales amazingly ... why not address the fact that his passive is weaker than it used to early on and buff its base damage? -Q decaying slow ... whateever

BUT THE WORST CHANGE IS THE FACT THAT YOU PLAN TO MAKE HIS ULTIMATE APPLY STACKS AGAIN! NO! you simply cannot do that. You will break him. WAY too much dmg late game. he scales just as fine with full build his ultimate does about 2000 true damage! how is that weak?

You need to address his weaker early game. My suggestions: -Increase his Passive's base damage pre lv7-8 -Make his ultimate apply his passive instantly one more time on researched Targets This will make Vel'koz a threat in the laning phase once again , while also not breaking his Lategame.

Please consider my advice as I have played Vel'koz a lot before and after the changes. Thank you.

Dude he does not have a weaker early game. Do the math his passive actually does more damage at EVERY level. Assuming you don't have runes or masteries and you only have dorans ring at level 1, at 6.9 before his buff, you would deal 39 true damage while the old VELKOZ would deal 35. Since everyone uses runes and masteries, his new passive would deal more than 39 sine it scales with AP while the old ult would still deal 35. You also forgot to consider VELKOZ ulting a researcher target. Early to mid game his ult without research does less damage but when researched, it deals significantly more damage at all stages in the game. You also forgot to consider that his decline in win rate was also due to his play rate doubling from his consistent 2% so you have 2% that never played VELKOZ prerwork and think they can master him in a week.

okay maybe you are right about the passive, but still lv6 old velkoz would deal way more damage with his ultimate applying stacks of his passive every 0.5s. The new researched ultimate doesnt, and also requires them to EAT all of the ray to use the true damage to its maximum effectiveness which realistically never happens. They did't have to eat all of the ray before, the burst that they got from the passive being applied a second time was enough to kill them.

Again do the math. The researched ult does more damage than his old ult. assuming you have the new morrelonomicon and Dorian's ring with no runes and mysteries, for me it would be at about level 7, at full channel his old ult would deal 500+60+9=569 magic damage + 95 true damage. His new ult at full channel and researched would deal 500+100+15=615 true damage. The researched ult does more damage too.

I've done the math and no it's not just the ultimate, it's the whole combo we are talking about. Also I'm not sure how fed you get in your games but you almost never will have a completed new morello by level 6. Also his W and E ratios are weaker so the damage lost there is greater than the damage gained in the new passive and ultimate EARLY GAME. Yes late game the passive and ult true damage outscale.

My point was that the old ultimate had more right up burst by applying the passive a second time almost straight away, while the new one has more damage output yes IF I REPEAT IF YOU STAY IN THE FULL BEAM. what don't you understand. You cannot argue that his early game did not get weaker when the reliability of his kill potential was switched from " make them eat your passive one more time and with a little dot from ult they die " to "they have to STAY in the laser for the entirety of its duration to die"

I never said that I get a completed morellonomicon by level 6. I said level 7. The nerfs to the w and e were compensated with the passive. With the old VELKOZ, you never just use w alone or e alone. You always had to use w with w to farm or w with e to poke and you should still be doing the same with the new VELKOZ. His combos are literally the same riot just converted some of his magic damage into true damage. So when you combo with the new VELKOZ, you really do more damage. Do the math again. W and e combined lost 42.5% ap scaling and it was compensated with the passive gaining 50% AP scaling or 40% in 6.9 as true damage. Since the new researched ult does more damage, that means each tick will do more damage. So really, you don't need the full channel to go even with the old ult.

lv7 instead of level 6 is this a joke? ( considering I was also talking about lv6 burst on my post) Also I'm too lazy to pull out the data to show you that no item laning phase velkoz is much weaker as of rework.( would you like a video perhaps?) You keep repeating that new ultimate does more damage and while yes that is true late game where you have AP to back up its strong scaling in laning phase the damage is not only lower but also delayed ad drawn out to last for the entirety of the channel.

You don't need to be in late game to do more damage with your ult. you make it sound like he was a worse early game compared to the old VELKOZ but he actually has a better one. I don't need a video when I have experience and from my experience, a single mr item doesn't nullify me anymore since his some of his magic damage was converted to true and my kda on average is higher. I do t know about you but I'm doing a lot better with the new VELKOZ.
