Why don't the Doran items minion execute?

item 1056 item 1055 item 1054 Like, they could be 50 gold more and have a passive that gives attacks execute bonus damage on minions, like Relic Shielditem 3302, but with a smaller execute window. The only point to the items is to get bonuses from farming anyway, and it will only help new players.

The items are a crutch for early combat effectiveness hence the AD/AP/Defensive Steroid + HP. If you aren't great at CSing, it just means you need practise and/or coaching.

Because CS'ing is a fundamental that you should learn, not depend on items to avoid.

Learning exactly how much damage Cho'Gath's ult did used to be a fundamental, now everyone knows exactly when it will execute anyone.

The ability to kill something or not shouldn't come down to an easy mistake you made, it should come down to your opponent's ability to stop you.

CSing is the most important thing in competitive matches, and is an after thought in casual matches. Providing a way to bridge this gap between the casual and competitive players would only help everyone.

Say you're playing a ranked game, and you happen to have a person new to ranked games on your team as your marksmen, who maybe has 1 tier 3 rune, wouldn't you want them to have a chance at playing at your level?

Go practice CSing rather than wanting a crutch.

I think it is actually a fair point though (and I am not saying this because I have a hard time csing or don't put in the practice. I have a good 10+ hours of csing practice on record and I take csing seriously.) Dorans items are at their core there to help with early laning. The execute wouldn't even have to be big, at 5-10 damage execute would help even out the skill barrier into league. Currently newer players, specifically casuals, are severely punished for not farming as well. While LoL is an competitive game there is also a large section of it's audience that is casual, and casuals play a game to have fun, rather than putting in tons of hours to practice little mechanics.

I don't agree with how harshly LoL punishes those who don't put in the extra bit of time and effort. I can understand rewarding those who do, but the game revolves harshly around money, and is overly punishing to those who aren't as skilled or have higher ping. There is also a precedent for it. AurelionSol orbs do minor execute damage to help secure farm. The tiny bit of extra damage helped even the power difference between those who were really good at micromanaging Asol and those who were only average at it while not changing Asol's power levels. It was a healthy change for a champion and it honestly makes sense in terms of the goal cs plays in LoL.

CS is there to force interaction between players. It pulls players to central points where they can exert kill pressure on each other and zone each other off cs. Really most cs that you miss should be from zoning, not due to being less skillful at last hitting itself. Since the damage would only apply if the normal damage would bring them withing the 5-10 health it wouldn't influence wave shoving powers. I would also venture to limit it to auto attacks and maybe single target spells.

"I can't CS properly so I need item that will do it for me because CSing isn't important lulz"

That's a good idea. Also, lets make an item that instakills enemy with a point and click nuke on 1 second cooldown, because why not?

Syndra Veigar I mean yeah its not 1 second but lets be reasonable

Ow, you mean ULTIMATES THAT YOU CAN AVOID/BLOCK?

Yeah, it's almost same thing.

Ok, what about Vi? Point Click, completely unstoppable.

Yup. Nothing that you can do to stop her R. Absolutely nothing. Not even one way to stop it.

the point of the items is to get an early game boost

dorans ring gives over 800 gold worth of stats for only 400 gold

SSmotzer1 votes

Exactly. So what would be the harm in giving a passive that helps players who aren't fully experienced in a champion have a more manageable time farming?

SNSD Sunnny1 votes

what do you mean? the item is used to get an edge over your opponents, not helping players cs.

SSmotzer1 votes

What do you mean? The Doran item's passive only activates when you CS. If a casual player gets the item and hasn't invested enough time in their champion to know what exactly to last hit, they aren't getting the added effect of the item, and for skilled players, the execute won't do anything, because they will already know when to last hit. This will make it so the only reason a person should lose cs, is if they are being pressured by their opponent to miss cs, not because they attacked at the wrong time and left the minion with 5 health and watched it die to your minions.

SNSD Sunnny1 votes

You already have a very large margin of error to last hit. Why do you think last hitting is easy? The only reason the last hit for gold mechanic even exists is to allow zoning to get an advantage, otherwise people would pick hyper scaling late game champions to sit at their turret.

SSmotzer1 votes

Exactly, but not everyone playing this game has played it enough to know when to last hit. Shouldn't the only reason a person misses out on gold is because the enemy is zoning them, and not because you overestimated your champion's early game damage? I'm not saying we should give everyone gold just for showing up, I'm saying we give people who are trying to last hit, the gold they are trying to get, even if their damage is just shy enough to leave a minion with a pixel of health left.

Riot has, for a while, been making changes that only benefit the hardcore player, and they have only recently been simplifying things so even the casual player can handle it. Like changing the jungle buffs to only healing and replacing the utility jungle buffs with plants that are easier to understand. Because at the end of the day, it isn't the experienced players who this game should be for, it should be for everyone.

i literally don't get what kind of nonsense you're spewing, so i'm done. i'm just going to assume you're like silver or bronze considering you keep repeating the same thing over and over again. theres a reason your thread has already been downvoted to hell.

riot has been making this game EASIER with each passing season. they give free wards to people and removed the green wards, they give out jungle timers on all important objectives. they even made a mastery that increase your damage on minions by 5. if you can't last hit with that on any champion, then any game is too hard for you really. the window to right click the minion to last hit is already like 3 seconds for the vast majority of cases, they really couldn't make it any easier. and if you're really bad, if you play ad, your base ad should be more than high enough to do 1/2 of the minions hp bar, and if you play ap your abilities should easily do more than 1/2 the minions hp bar. either case there is no excuse for missing tons of cs.

SSmotzer1 votes

Half? What game are you playing? There is no champion in the game that can two shot any minion with their base damage. The best any champion with base damage can do is 5-7 on a melee minion, and with a Doran's blade it maybe drops it to 5-6.

I am trying to say that the reason a person trying to last hit should fail, is because they are being bullied away from the minions by their opponent. The measure for a person's ability should be their positioning, and coordination, not memorizing the amount of pixels it takes to drop the minion's health to zero.

And as a good reminder to the farmer, executes are starting to get visual ques, which would be perfect for new players. When the execute would be proc-able, the minion could have a target on them, letting new players know exactly when they should be last hitting the minions. I mean, people used to memorize exactly how much damage Cho'Gath did with his ult, so they could always land it, driving a divide between the hardcore Cho'Gath players and the casual ones, and now he has a big glowing symbol that appears, letting everyone know he can kill them.
