Let's talk AFK/Leavers in ranked

So we've all been in those games where someone on your team arbitrarily leaves during the game. Now it's a 4v5, and you wonder... are they coming back? If they come back, will we be too far behind?

There are many reasons I'm sure, for why riot still has yet to make any positive changes to this dilemma. Here's one that I'm sure is the main issue.

Any change riot might make for only ONE person leaving on a team, would effect the entire system because then anyone could just "leave" during the game to help loss prevent the rest of their team.

Also, it wouldn't be fair to punish those who just happened to have a bad connection at the time, regardless of whether it was riot or their own connection (how would you ever know unless someone takes the blame?)

So there-in lies the dilemma, now let's brainstorm this EVERYONE because I'm tired of 4v5 ranked games.

Why let a problem persist if it's a Well-Known Problem

Here are my ideas:

*** Create a 'pause' system.** -back when I played Dota 2, the pause system was what kept the games mostly fair. Someone left, or had connection problems, they said 'Hey! I need to restart!' and their team would pause the game for them, and usually the other team was kind enough to leave the game paused. If they kept unpausing it, it could just be repaused. -honestly this is the best idea in the world, the only reason I think riot hasn't implemented it is because they're afraid to use a minor feature from Dota 2. Maybe it's time to swallow the pride?

*** Create an in-game loss-prevention vote that everyone still in game can accept. (only available if a person has left)** -The team that has lost someone says "welp, they aren't coming back, let's see if we can get the other team to agree to a loss prevention." So they start the vote, and select the member that left (to be added to the riot review list). The other team agrees that it's an unfair game, and then the vote passes. The game doesn't end however, it continues. The team with 4 will be immune to series losses, and will receive significantly reduced lp loss if they lose. Both teams will receive a 1-5% reduction in the lp up for grabs if they win. The logic behind this is: -If the team with 4 was winning by a landslide when they had their 5th, then the other team would probably be kind enough to accept the vote. -If the other team was winning by a landslide, and then someone rage-quits on the losing team, likely the losing team with 4 would have lost even if they had 5, so why would the winning team punish itself. That's what the lp reduction on the winning team is for, to create incentive to not always use the voting system. -Obviously there will be those stingy lp-hoarding teams that won't cut a break to an obviously unfortunate turn of events, but, worst case scenario, the game proceeds as it already has been proceeding to this day - neglected by riot.

More ideas to come, these are just a couple Kick-starters for this discussion.

-The reason behind humanities lack of advancement is plain apathy, and the anxiety of change. But someone's got to take the plunge, regardless of how things turn out. And in this case, everything that is changed, can also be undone
