Team composition matters. It matters a lot. A real lot. It doesn't matter if you win your lane, and are better than your opponents. If they have a fluid team comp, and you have 3 assassins, and a mage support, you aren't going to win. You lost before the game even started.

If you really want to win games, leave the comfort zone of your fav 1-3 champions, and broaden your champion pool so that you can fill the neccisary role to give your team a chance of winning.

as much as i love to agree with this... down here in silver.. i would settle for my teammates knowing how to play the champs they picked.

As much as I would like to agree with it too, down here in Diamond 1, I would settle with my teammates knowing how to play the champs they picked.

No seriously, who cares about team comp, don't sacrifice playing your best champions for playing something you don't know just to fit a team comp.

It NEVER works. 90% of the time picking for a team comp doesn't work because it's solo Q and you aren't gonna be doing any huge coordinated 5 man strats anyway. Leave this nonsense for pro-play and remember you're playing solo Q.

But if you utter the words, "We need a tank!" without giving it any thought at all.... That is annoying too. That is the equivalent of saying, "OMG JUST GROUP" when Nasus is nearing your top inhib turret with a wave of 30 minions as well as a wave of 50 minions hitting your bot lane turret at the same time.

If youre a... Top lane main, you NEED to know how to play.... A tank. A split pusher. A Juggernaut.

A mid lane main, you NEED to know how to play.... A mage. An assassin. A battlemage.

If youre a jungle main, you NEED to know how to play.... A Tank. An assassin. A tanky fighter.

If youre a support main, you NEED to know how to play.... A enchanter. A tank.

If youre a ADC main, you NEED to know how to play.... A tank buster And any traditional ADC.

Not saying there aren't other things you can play in these lanes, but this is the bear minimum that you are required to know how to play well to push yourself past a gold caliber of gameplay. And you also, need to recognize when you need to pick a certain role in your lane over another one.

Quiz time! Enemy team has... Vayne+Lulu bot lane. Khazix jungle. Lux Mid. Kled top.

Your team has... Jihn+Morgana bot. Zed mid. Nocturne Jungle.

you are last pick, what champion do you choose top lane? why?

malphite; balance the lack of magic damage, attack speed slow for vayne and kled, malphite ult is always great maokai; balance lack of magic damage, lockdown on vayne/fed assassin, good teamfight potential sion; dummies laning phase, scales into hyper tank with tons of cc and damage singed; balance lack of magic damage, one man teamfighter, lockdown and nearly guaranteed kill on flip target

def more but those are probably the best

Tell that to the people who like to play champs in off meta roles for fun lol. Even harder to have a fluid team comp when your teammates' idea of a win condition is confusing the enemy with your lack of cohesion of a team comp.

hey as long as their filling the needed role, or a typical role of their lane. I'm cool with off meta choices.

Team composition matters.

How many players have developed enough understanding of 140 champions to be able to visualize good and bad team composition forming during champ select? Not many (under Gold), I expect. The most I've ever detected in normals is one person saying, "We need a tank," and that had better mean, "Fine, I'll be the tank," because half of the time, everybody points away from themselves: "I can't tank, I'm ADC," "Top, you be tank," "I don't have any tank champs," "What's a tank?"

Obviously in premades, especially fivers, you can try to sort that out early. But otherwise, it isn't about telling others to leave their comfort zone (especially when they might not be able to during the champ select countdowns after being filled or while learning a slot they haven't yet put much BE into) but having options of your own so you can at least influence your own fate.

I used to be a support main, but after finding the only thing I could carry on my own was my rank from Bronze 1 to Bronze 3, I started broadening my horizons. In so doing, I've learned about team comp, but no amount of somebody telling me which champ to or not to play during select would've helped me contribute more to my team because even though I could go Alistar or something if I were last pick and told to choose tanky, I didn't have the reps with him to be more useful than a squish support that I had enough reps with to understand well.

A team comp, counters and litterally anything just matters when both teams are equal in every aspect.

The thing is it is nice to have a broad variety of champs to be able to fill for every game, but I am slowly starting to realize that in order to move up I have to focus on hard carrying because even with team plays and team work it doesn't seem to be enough as some people in low elo are just bad a team fighting.

I'm just a dirty Nocturne main.. https://imgur.com/a/AhepC

I disagree. Picking for a composition is actually a lot of the reason players are stuck in low elo. If you pick a champion you don't frequently play for a composition, you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EXECUTE THAT COMP. You won't be able to win lane and snowball like you normally would( because contrary to what you said, winning lane actually matter). You won't know when opportunities present themselves(IE if you're a zyra main you'll know what good ultis are versus a person who picks her for the comp). You won't know how much damage you do or how much damage you can take.

This is why people recommend sticking to 1-2 champions to climb. The only place comp truly matters is pro play, where players CAN fully execute on champs and comps due to their insane skill(*relative to your average player) and communication.
