So how well does the new last whisper work with lethality and BC?

Just curious. I know lethality ADCs are more early game oriented and that LW was a mid to late game purchase, so the build was possible before if you finished LDR. But it looks like it'll come online earlier with the LW buff.

Is it beneficial to run %pen items with flat pen items or should ADCs that want to use the LW items focus more on crit?

can you poke? yes-->yes do it no--->no don't do it

varus is #1 right now due to his insane Q jhin/mf is #2 because he has a decent poke and his ulti allows him to help from a long distance, or because mf ulti pentakills the enemy team

So basically every caster adc should build lethality over crit.

ehhhhhh

let me rant for a bit as an adamant jhin main on my other accs before they got banned, ive ALWAYS preferred crit over lethality even when flat pen was meta

HOWEVER there are clear strengths and weaknesses

  1. crit will ALWAYS outscale flat pen, not matter what
  2. crit takes longer to ramp up and come online, lethality is cheaper
  3. casters abuse this a lot since it makes both spells and autos stronger

however, a lot of ppl i know seem to like just raw damage over crit so a lucian build might go something like youmuus --- edge of night -- lucy boots -- cleaver -- bloodthirster --- last whisper

granted, most games are over before you even get to cleaver but if you decide to go all 3 lethality items instead of bt, with a full build you can negate up to 110 percent of someones armor. with this, it seems like a lot, but crit will still do far more damage than expected. the only problem is that lethality is cheaper and more gold efficient early which is what games are dependent on no, so naturally, this helps out adcs

if you think you can survive till late game, id prefer to go crit with a lw rather than opting for a flat pen into cleaver with lw kind of build

item 3035 ignores % of Bonus Armor (this means armor from items / masteries/buffs/ etc) Lethality ignores a flat amount of armor, scaling with the targets level.

%Reduction is checked before flat penetration.

This means that %reduction makes flat penetration somewhat better since it means the target has less Armor and Flat penetration is made to be effective against targets with little to no armor.

The thing is, Flat penetration is actually not that great compared to just crit or more AD in this scenario on anything but squishies.

You will be doing more overall damage with %reduction + crit than you will with Flat pen and %reduction , because the multiplier heavily outways the small flat pen numbers.

250% extra damage > 10 - 20 extra damage.

The reason it is more effective on squishies, and seems so op right now is because no one is building take atm, and thus this combination decimated league of Squishy damage dealers. But put 1 or 2 tanks and the lethality building adcs and the like start looking like jokes to everything but other squishies.

ADC Champs that have long ranged spells to hit squishies from a safe distance can get away with it more than ones that can't. MF ult and Varus Q for example.
