So...I understand why people make smurf accounts

I just had a match in a normal game and the match maker in all its knowledge put a level 27 Darius against a platinum Fiora in top lane. Guess which one won. The other lanes were out classed in rank too. Now, I understand I'm a high rank player and that can throw things off....but plats versus level 27s? I go to normals to play without pressure or try out new things, I can now see why people make smurf accounts once they hit diamond, it would be really really hard to learn anything when you have lanes going 0/10 at 10 minutes. I guess I will finally have to make my own smurf account just so I can learn new stuff and try out new things.

Yup, you are now seeing the light. Once your MMR is high enough you get punished in normals to the point where it is no longer a fun queue at all. It is much easier to make a smurf and practice new stuff vs Plats than it is to keep queueing up for normals in hopes of a game that lasts long enough to even get a 2nd item. From what I have seen normals are pretty much stomps, one way or another, or even if the game took about 30 minutes you had to play in a way that you would never play in ranked in order to win due to something out of your control. An example of this is when I see my support friends get stuck with a level 17 ADC and they end up just taking all the farm since the ADC has no clue that those minions give out gold and then they build full damage to make up for the lack of team fighting damage. In a ranked game this would never be a good technique to use but in a normals this is a pretty good strat for when your ADC just installed last week.

lvl27? consider yourself lucky. When I was lvl 11~14 (forgot the actual number, too long ago) with 4 normal games played total, I was facing a gold and plat on the enemy team and mind you, none of my teammates were over lvl 20. Up to this day that specific match's experience still haunts me, and not knowing how to surrender as I was new back then certainly didn't help - but at least I can blame my ignorance for that part.

Normals wise the same thing happens on an alt account anyways, just you're now on a level 15~20 account with no runes and less masteries lol Unless of course you intentionally lose games to prevent your normal MMR from rising too quickly.

i think I'll only rise to gold or low plat with the new account then just play normals with it.

The reason why this happens is because the MMR for Ranked and Normal Games are two different stats
