Has Darius finally been ruined?

This guy has been continuously nerfed since the juggernaut update that I'm starting to question whether his rework was a failure. I think he has legitimately stopped being fun for me to play after all the direct and indirect nerfs.

Darius feels strong against those don't know how to play against him but against anyone that does is where he ends up feeling incredibly weak if you don't just hard counter the opponent. His sticking power has gotten so bad now that players are running ghost over tp on him now just so that they can actually stick to someone. It even reflects in his items. Players are sacrificing durability/survivability for move speed items so they don't get kited forever.

This guy needs a buff to his base movespeed and to his E or W slow.

edit: he is also notoriously weak to ganks as well. Darius has a reputation of being a 1vX champion but that's only if he is ahead. But that basically applies to almost all the top lane roster as well and isn't unique to him or a select few. Yet for a champion with awful catch/chase potential he also has terrible escape capability as well which is pretty dumb.

This. People don't understand how to lane against him.

He's fine.

I played him quite a bit last season but haven't touched him since. I will say I haven't seen a Darius do well in ages now. I can think of 4 games off the top of my head in the last few days where a Darius got dumpstered.

To be honest I've not been aware of any Darius buffs or nerfs. As a Garen main I cry...literally...whenever I lane vs him. Alot of Garen mains have switched to him. But I do relish the challenge I learn tricks each time I play vs him.

But he is kitable. And that's why I think he is perfectly balanced. he is a bully but kept at range he is controllable. He has a role that's clearly defined and does what he does very well.

He's fine where he's at, it's player's fault for the crap they think is good on him.

This based off the data from op.gg who collect from high Elo. This is diamond + players building these items on him.

At low elo fights tend to be messy affairs with very little use of spacing so tankier champion teams with burst tend to fair better.

At higher elos people use spacing better so pokey teams with motility tend to fare better because tanky or burst champions are zoned and picked off.

Unfortunately some champs are better suited to some elos. That's just how is is. You can't change that without effectively changing the champion.

This is from looking at darius' build variations over the years.

They're still taking fervor of battle instead courage. Darius has nothing in terms of survivability going that heavy into the non-tank trees and wants courage in order to get 5 stacks consistently+clutch heals off a shield. Only true mistake.

Items chosen by players properly improved, but darius doesn't need anything more than black cleaver for damage then go full into survivability in order to consistently get 5 stacks. Titanic isn't such a great item, once playing darius is mastered getting 5 stacks off a RG/Pull is a simple task. It's only real reasoning is for fervor which is piss poor on darius due to the amount of survivability lost

Blame still falls on the players thankfully item-wise it's improved but people still taking fervor making them squishy as hell and useless compared to colossus and the tank line masteries to ensure you will survive to rampage with 5 stacks. Because you will get bursted easily and since you're squishy 1 mistake and that's a wrap.

Everyone wants to be a carry, instead of the powerful disruptive force darius is meant to be.

that's because courage got gutted in solo lanes for anyone that is not a tank. Grasp compare to fervor of battle also sucks which is why it is taken over grasp for the same reason as before. Taking grasp or courage over fervor can be the difference between a won or lost lane because of how much DPS it adds if you can stack it quickly. Its the difference between losing lane or being unable to duel (to name a few) Gangplank Irelia Jayce Olaf Riven Tryndamere Udyr Yasuo as Darius because they have it or better scaling.

And yet fervor being taken over courage caused his win rate to go to shxt. Just because it was nerfed doesn't mean it isn't a better option than undying and fervor, neither of the other 2 enable you to even remotely be enabled later when you already have enough power to control the lane early and teamfight mid-game.

Fervor is piss awfully squishy.

Darius is in a good spot, the player base is still fking him over with that crap mastery choice to make him squishier to underperform at his job.

I played darius multiple times with the grasp and courage after the nerfs and it felt awful against anyone who could use fervor. You lose trades hard against anyone who can utilize it because your dps is significantly worse than theirs. Darius players still put the rest of their points into the resolve tree even if they don't take the keystone so that isn't the key factor. The only time you can get away with not taking fervor is against tanks or anyone who couldn't use it effectively.

hes lost a lot of steam, and they should have honestly compensated him for the nerf that came with the bugfix on his q.

though id say that running ghost on darius has nothing to do with nerfs to his sticking potential. i just think its a really strong choice for a summoner on him to be able to chase down opponents over long lanes and secure kills.

honestly suprised that ive not seen item 3800 as a more common item on him so far.

Ghost on Darius is more to do with the kill pressure it gives you in lane and teamfights and the fact that your TP ganks are nothing special

they should probably revert his noxian might nerfs from the start of season

i thought so too. what do you think about righteous glory on darius?

imo its even a viable choice for a second icon after cleaver and can pretty much be a replacement for summoner ghost. i used to build this item a lot on him before they changed the active slow to auto trigger.

I like it a lot, itemis too goodto pass up

If you look on op.gg its actually comes second in terms of mobility items built (not counting boots) after dead man's. So your not wrong for wondering about that.

I've been saying from the onset that Darius' rework was a failure. They gutted his damage output, stickiness and laning strength in exchange for a few more hitpoints and a heal. He lost most of his snowball potential.

Hell, I wouldn't have even classified Darius as a "Juggernaut" before his rework. His damage, mobility and utility were much closer to a dive-bruiser, but they removed so much from his kit, he got DOWNGRADED from Bruiser to Juggernaut. Yes, in LoL, Bruisers are a higher tier of class than Juggernaut, but this should be common knowledge.

I haven't played LOL in a while. Probably close to 2 years. So today I was bored, signed on after DLing everything and picked Darius to top lane.

I used to be able to solo top no problem with him, and pretty much dominate. Now I got destroyed by...... Talon.

They really nerfd him bad it seems. He can't take a hit for the life of him anymore. And is damage seems nerfd too. It's a shame. He used to be one of the best.
