Fizz continues to take the short end of the stick.

Fizz has always been heavily abused in lane, so abused infact that alot of champions can prevent him from getting CS from level 1, unless of course he wants to be forced to back by the time he hits level 2 because all of his HP is gone.

These runes make this experience so much more fun for fizz when every champion can now take an infinite use poke rune (Aerie) that can be proc'd on auto attacks and spells alike, and resets within only a couple of seconds. You WERE capable of enduring through the excessive and down right infuriating gameplay of games where you weren't even allowed to CS thanks to the old defensive runes, but now of course you're free to take all of that poke head on with nothing to protect you. No MR, no Armor, not jack.

But wait, there's more! Fizz's ONLY strength in the game atm is high early damage and a kit that translates into a potential snowball during the laning phase. You endure the totally interactive and fun gameplay that is early game VS a Ryze, Lissandra, Orianna, Cassiopiea, and Azir just to name the worst examples, then you have but a single damn opportunity to cheese them with high damage early and hope you can kill them. If you do then the only thing you can do is keep on killing and killing and killing just so you can actually have the lane to yourself. If you play in high elo VS players who actually know how to lane VS fizz they'll never give you the opportunity for this, and then they'll just stack defensive items against you leaving you no chance to win back your lane. You'll get choked on gold from the low CS, depending on the teamcomp no one will be realistically killable for you late game, and the mage mid lane will scale with their superior kit and impact the game for their team.

But this is a thing of the past. The fact that an AP assassin, a class of assassins that's already on the bottom of the barrel, can actually kill someone is appalling and down right toxic to "Player Experience". So Riot added a nifty little rune that acts as a mini hexdrinker to increase safety to Mage champions and further empower the downright broken and brainless defensive power that Hexdrinker offers as an early game buy for AD champions.

Now you can lose 1/5 of your HP bar every time you step up for a minion Pre 6 and if you dare try to trade there's not a snowballs chance in hell you'll have kill pressure on them. Infact, you'll probably just end up dying because you'll very likely be a significantly lower HP than them unless you choose to just chill at 0 CS from the beginning of the match.

This is why I stopped playing ranked so long ago. It was already bad enough in diamond elo dealing with players who knew how to abuse fizz, and because of his kit there really isn't much counterplay to the abuse. Now that issue is just becoming even stronger by the day with the new runes, even better itemization that counters fizz, and new champions constantly being rolled out with multiple hard counters to his kit.

screw Fizz

finally have a brief window to play Xerath without him being bad

don't ruin this for me

btw: hexdrinker is stronger on ADs because they don't have the range safety of most mages - they actually have to get into auto range.

Except that it doesn't matter. All of the AD assassins have low CD ranged abilities that they use for CSing and even poking safely. Zed can spam his with no sustain issues while talon just spams corrupting pots, and it also works out because he can clear waves insanely quickly. Talon's W is also a zoning tool because much like Ekko if you dare walk near it to harrass him or anything and get hit you're going to feel it. Going melee range on an AD assassin is also a benefit in terms of trading because you get to use your most powerful tool, auto attacks.

If not then as I said both have tools for safety that fizz does not.

Hexdrinker doesn't grant them "safety", it ensures that if they do decide to extend for an all in or deep trade where they do go melee range then unless they make major mistakes they can and will come out ahead. For matchups like Fizz who relies on a single risky combo with long cooldowns it ensures they can face tank what he has and turn on him if he comes to them.

So what is it your actually asking for?

I'm asking for riot to go back and look at Fizz properly this time with an actual rework. Pre rework he still had bad design but was still in a meta where he had even higher cheese damage, with the rework it just chunked his overall power while adding in a bucket load of counterplay potential to his his entire kit which was in line with their "Player Experience" agenda which they don't even abide by with more recent balance decisions.

You can still go ult a tank for the cc or splitpush tho, thats the Trickster gameplay we came for :]

revert fizz 2k18 [sg-ezreal]

I don't support a revert. As I've made a point of in any of my posts talking about fizz I whole heartedly agree that fizz has never been a good design nor has he ever been fun for players to play against, which is one of the major issues the community has with him. There's also no guarantee it'd fix his issues as all it'd really do is take away counterplay mechanics that is currently destroying his late game teamfight capabilities, maybe add in abit more raw power but also open up fizz to more tank gameplay which everyone equally hates.

I have my own ideas about what direction he should take for better or potentially for worse, but that's best saved for a different thread.

Why does a champ need to be fun to play against tho? Thats not the point of the game, if anything your champ should be fun to play. Tank Fizz would never be an issue if you make his on hit damage have low base and high scaling.

I agree with that completely. I believe a decent handful of champions that exist in the game far are more oppressive and infuriating than fizz ever was at any point in his history, but regardless of whether or not they display massive hypocrisy in their decisions Riot won't really budge.

So if they decide to only adhere to their "Player Experience" philosophy when it comes to specific champions like fizz then you have no choice or power as a player but to play along with them and hope you can come to an agreement somewhere while compromising.

But even if we don't give a flying hoot about the other players enjoyment you also have to consider it from a balance perspective. An Ideal fizz would be one with highly dynamic mobility with an in-out dive style. Depending on how you tweak his mobility there's no interaction in his trades and he just 1 sidedly runs at you, combo's, then walks away. The question comes down to: How do you give this champion the ultimate level of mobility while atleast giving the enemy a window of opportunity to act on. Some champions don't even have that, but if we the players were to suggest a concept without legitimate counterplay methods we'd simply be ignored, regardless of if they'd do it if the idea originated from themselves.

Don't you dare complaining about Fizz. Every champion has counter picks and I ensure you there are a lot more match ups where Fizz IS the counter.

Fizz counterpicks maybe really defenseless off meta mid laners, but good luck finding those. Not my fault if you decide you want to play Xerath mid VS what is supposed to be an assassin and die to it. Counterpicking isn't even the worst of it, his biggest issues lie in his late game. But otherwise when he does get counterpicked you are completely incapable of getting any CS at all. You'll just get Auto'd down and poked with abilities and lose 1/4th of your HP every time you step up for minions. Atleast normally if you pick a shit matchup you'll likely have legitimate strategies to safe farm and not feed, but fizz doesn't have that.
