What Makes A Good Top Laner?
I don't know much about top lane but I'm curious; what makes a champion good, bad, or unplayable in the top lane? Are there specific requirements the champion has to fulfill?

Basically if you first pick top, you lose
Not in low elo. In low elo you can pick whatever the fuck you want and still win because nobody here can deal with a proper splitpush apparently.
Literally don't tilt and you've won your lane

If you mean the player, then the answer is knowing most of the match ups. You basically know how to counterpick or exploit isolation.
If you mean the champion pick, champion with dashes, 1v1 potential and some form of hard CC pref. If you also happen to scale hard, that's a plus.
Jax, Renekton, Riven, Fiora, Irelia, Camille. Those are the most 'go to' melee. Not far from those you can find Olaf, Hecarim, Aatrox, Sylas. If you like yordles (eww), Kled, Rumble.
The ranged traditional champs 'go to' are usually Jayce, Kennen, Gnar. The other unusual poke n' cheese picks include Quinn, Vayne, karma, Viktor, Taliyah, Cassiopeia, Lissandra. These are not that common, but when the chance arises, they are just there just to make sure you are not having fun while playing league of legends.
