[SUGGESTION]Stinger/Nashor's Tooth rework

When working on a large AP rework idea I came with this idea in mind:

#item 3101 Stinger

  • Recipe: item 3114 + item 1042 + 350 (=1200)
  • Stats: 20% Attack Speed, 50% Base Mana Regen, 10% Cooldown Reduction.
  • UNIQUE Passive: Basic attacks restore 2% of your maximum mana on hit

#item 3115 Nashor's Tooth

  • Recipe: item 3108 + item 3101 +item 1052 + 365 (=2800)
  • Stats: 60 Ability Power, 30% Attack Speed, 100% Base Mana Regen, 20% Cooldown Reduction.
  • UNIQUE Passive: Basic attacks restore 2% of your maximum mana on hit
  • UNIQUE Passive: Basic attacks deal 15 (+15% of Ability Power) bonus magic damage on hit.

Onhit mages in the midlane where always been an intressting concept in the midlane. While Nashor's Tooth was always been an intressting core item on them. With onhit mages I'm talking about champions like Kayle, Diana, Teemo and the recent released Azir. Add this moment the concept of onhit mages still has many flaws:

  • Kayle always seem to be able to scale harder with attackspeed than ability power. The lack of mana sustain often places him into the jungle where he can snowball out of controle. The recent rework to hybrid itematisation didn't improve this even slightly.
  • Diana always seem to have struggled with mana sustain but she was forced in onhit stacking to forfill her job. This often forces her into the jungle. While in the midlane see sometimes see's play with item 3001 but riot already stated they want to rework that into a bruiser item add some point in time.
  • Teemo the devil himself. Always seem to be able to scale harder with ability power than attackspeed. The lack of mana sustain is crucial to become a snowballing factor or just another dead weight.
  • Azir this is the first of them that started a trend to rush item 3115 after been nerfed into the ground. It's still not perfect but it get's the job done.

With this Nashors/Stinger rework, Azirs only solid AS source of item would be nerfed hard for him. Not really something I'm looking forward to :/

The old Azir build didn't even have attackspeed. It's until the heavy road of nerfs towards him people finaly start build attackspeed on him to put resources into another power curve.

I also don't think it wouldn't even be close to a nerf to him. Azir was always been a verry mana hungry champion and I'm pretty sure the lower attackspeed & cheaper cost on the item is worth it.

Last point, we shouldn't hold back an item for simply one champion. This is what has been the downfall for riot is the past.

If the item still feels underwelming than one of these options are pretty easy to explore:

  • Changing the recipe to item 3108 + item 3101 + item 1042 (now gives 40 Ability power & 50% Attack Speed)

or

  • Increasing the combine cost to 765 (now gives 60 Ability Power & 50% attackspeed), total price now 3200.

I think the only thing that nerfs him is that the additional passive won't help azir at all at laning phase/late game since his soliders are not count as auto attack. You're trading 20% Attack speed and 20 ability power for another passive wich is kinda not useful for him either, lowering his dps he could do kinda.. I mean in general it's a decent idea, but I think Riot needs to create more Attackspeed items for auto attack depending champions that use ap too.

Actualy the additional passive will work on his Sand Soldiers similar to how sated devour works on him.

I actualy don't think onhit mages actualy have a problem with attackspeed right now. Since litterly the only onhit mages that exist right now are Teemo Diana Kayle & Azir. With Azir been the only fully mage marksman. I have a feeling that Teemo & Kayle have potentional to be reworked into mage marksman because how their kit is designed. On this moment the concept of onhit mages is still no real class in league of legends.

Offcourse their are some others that come to mind like Chogath Kennen but those where never into a spot to become a true onhit mage. And I honnestly don't think this concept would fit them.

If we need more asp itematisation with ability power than I would suggest an item that is created out item 2015 when their is need of a secondary attackspeed item that can work together with the new item 3115:

#Example Item

  • Recipe: item 2015 + item 1058
  • Stats: 80 Ability Power, 30% Attack Speed
  • UNIQUE – ENERGIZED STRIKE: Moving and using basic attacks Energize you. When fully Energized, your next basic attack deals +50 (+15% AP) bonus on-hit magic damage.

I mean, there are a bunch of other Auto attacking champions that use AP as damage source too, mostly meele but they could have the potential as dps meele magic damage dealer. I mean, Diana works kinda like that, and if there'd be more choices to pick from for them, they clearly will have the potential to be strong as AP dps champion. Of course, Nashors is great by its own, but not really that suited for most of these imo.

Also, about the additional passive, I am not familliar with the sated devour works, but appearantly it does not really seem that useful on azir either lmao. Though, if Azir could benefit from the additional passive with the mana restore, it'd def would be a buff for him, mostly because he'd actually gets alot of mana refunded if he gets the chance to use his soliders.

One of diana's glaring weaknesses is her mana costs.. if you give her an item that she occasionally builds mana regen she'll get nerfed in some way to compensate for the new item. (Diana literally builds 0 mana regen because the items are useless on her)
