I KNOW, I KNOW, NO ALL CAPS POSTS but 5.6 can hardly contain my excitement

I hate posting on the boards because it's a woeful substitute to the original forums and I do my best to just reddit instead of post here, but these are the official ones and I have to say, as someone who used to consider Evelynn their main when I started out, this patch is freaking' awesome.

So Riot, I would just like to say that you honestly DID screw up Evelynn when you reworked her- The passive you gave her was probably one of the best passives in the whole game. However she ended up really, really retarded. She's an assassin who jungles and can only be built as a tank, and you're pretty much insane if you build her otherwise. Okay, you sort of screwed up.

I've been struggling to play her as a reworked champion- however with this new patch, things are looking pretty amazing

So let's just recognize that Riot's reworks usually push champions towards what I would consider "semi-utility". It gives them far more specified roles, and in evelynn's case, screws her up because she becomes confusing and honestly, useless. However, this patch might just have done it.

After level 6, your shadow walk starts to speed things up for you. This is insane, at level 6, you are goddamn invisible. You basically have perma-stealth. If someone comes to gank you, sometimes you'll be invisible as soon as they come. Let's say you were idling for a moment or just walking back and forth before someone just walked out of a bush- Once you react and walk away, a three-second cooldown on shadow leaves enemies confused.

I have to say the original dark frenzy was pretty damn good, but this new change is PROBABLY a bit of a de-buff. See, originally when dark frenzy allowed you to gain movement speed if you hit enemy champions with spells basically did two things: 1. People pursuing you who couldn't/didn't CC were basically trying to chase down a goddamn bunny rabbit that just ran faster and faster. Which was pretty damn awesome. 2. You could run down any sunavabitch who tried to run from you, it couldn't matter if they had six boots of swiftness on (See, this was always an interesting part, Evelynn could run down every single person in the whole game save Rammus and sion, however since you'd be insane to build anything but tank on Evelynn, you would outshoot your whole team and have the damage of being able to poke people you were chasing to death with a foam finger. So it was ultra-weird.

The new dark frenzy, I think is actually not so good because it's a goddamn 15 second cooldown. Let's see how this is different from the original. Let's suggest a few scenarios. You're being chased up bottom lane, and we're saying over a period of 15 seconds, which is pretty long. If you get three hits of a Q off when you're running, let's do the math. After 4.5 seconds of constant Q's dark frenzy is at 15-(4.5+3) 7.5 cooldown. So after 7.5 seconds you can activate dark frenzy again to escape. Basically, once you use dark frenzy, you're pretty much free (at level 3 dark frenzy gives 50% +movement speed. By level 5 you basically shoot off like a rocket). Okay, but suppose you activate W as soon as a chase starts. You shoot off like a damn rocket with a 20 or 30% increased movement speed. Okay, now who the hell are you going to hit with your spells to reduce the CD? Will Twisted fate, reksai and nocturne all teleport into your way so you can reduce the cooldown? Probably not.

So where would this be useful? I probably can't suggest all the scenarios, but here are a few. You activate dark frenzy to jump someone as soon as you get within vision range. You toss off a few spells, a ravage and a few q's..... Okay.... Let's say after 6 seconds dark frenzy is ALMOST cooled down. By then, you're also probably dead, or the enemies probably dead. I think this is true in most cases unless it's already 30 minutes in and you're almost done full building your tank kit. If not, let's say either you or your opponents are running. Okay, so after a few more seconds of chasing, then your dark frenzy has come back up, and you can W again to chase them down- let's suppose they had boots of swiftness and you had none, so your W let you chase 'em down. But in this case I can honestly not understand why the original W wouldn't have worked.

Maybe this is crazy, but what if you added basic attacks to account for a 1 second CDR on Evelynn's W? That WOULD encourage a more bursty and feisty hit-and-run, I guess.

Of course, I can't decipher the reasons for why the W was changed, but I hope it will work out in the end.

Overall, I'm pretty damn well amazed by the changes given to Evelynn in 5.6, this is pretty awesome, thanks a lot Ritopls.inc But, if any riot employees happen to be reading this, I would ask you to really closely monitor what your tweak with the W has done. I personally can't agree with it so far, (I haven't played a game with evelynn yet..... I've played only one game since 5.6 anyways) I don't really want to disagree, but to be honest maybe I can put it this way... Sometimes I feel evelynn is just a BIT too complicated. Not saying that there shouldn't be complexity but the switching and flipping might have made it hard for YOU yourself (Assuming riot employees are reading?) to really figure out a better way to integrate Evelynn's W. Anyhow, even though I have a lot to complain about her W for, the changes to her passive might just be the coolest buff ever given.
