My duo and I found a lobby after just a 2 minute wait to see we were both autofilled to roles we don't play at all.
Can't it wait like 6 minutes or so before deciding the queue is too long and making us play roles we don't know how to, and don't have runes set up for??

Your queue was 2 min. The queue of the people who needed a fill may have been 10 minutes.
Now, what would you prefer? To wait 10 min and then get autofilled? And so they have to wait 18min instead of 10min?
I'd guess you're slated for a turn of autofill and they'd rather get it over with than make you sit there for 10min then do it. They CAN know that it will take that long because there's a queue of ~10000 players in front of you waiting for a support and can estimate pretty consistently how long it will take to queue all of those people using supports and autofills.
I think it's right in this case. If you're going to make me wait, you better give me one of my roles. If you're just going to fill me anyways, get it over with ASAP. Roles should be first-come-first-served in these instances. If you and I are going in to the same game and one of us has to fill, whoever queued last should have to fill.

rtbf761092713 votesI don't think there is a way for the system to say "if we don't autofill right now, they will wait 10 minutes" because it cannot tell who is going to queue up in the future.
What it should do is wait 6 minutes, then upon not finding a game, autofill and try to find a game asap. Not potentially autofill people into support after only 2 minutes, when the vast majority of players would rather wait a bit longer to get the roles they signed up for

I have 4k+ games over 4 years. Of those 4k+ games I prolly have maybe 300 games (maybe) top yet I can still top lane fairly well for my skill level.

I mean do as you please but I'm a firm believer people should have like 500+ wins just to play ranked so they have a better idea of whats going on. You've made it to G5 which is awesome if you just started this year, but people like you are the exception to the average. A average person who starts this year and jumps right into ranked usually plummet from Silver placement to Bronze and they usually cost their team games on the way.
