PSA: You're wildly misusing the term "meta"
"Meta" is often misused as a word in MOBAs. "Meta" is not, and never was, a synonym for "what is most powerful", "what is most popular", "what is viable", etc.
Meta comes from the greek meaning "above". "Metagame" is a term that predates computer gaming: _Metagaming is any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game. Another definition refers to the game universe outside of the game itself. _
Knowing people will play a certain champion because it is statistically the most powerful, and responding accordingly, is not meta gaming. You are basing your decision on what to do based on what is known about the game's design. Knowing people will play a certain champion because it counters yours mechanically is not meta gaming, for the same reason that it is a decision made based on the game's known design and not based on factors outside of the game.
Knowing that you're playing a tournament against a certain team, who you know prefers to play certain kinds of champions, and prefer certain kind of strategies, and responding accordingly - that's meta gaming. You're making decisions that go beyond what is available from the game design itself, and strategizing based on external factors.
