Hello summoner!
A great tool to check out when getting started with orianna is the subreddit:
Orianna mains https://www.reddit.com/r/OriannaMains/
On there you can ask questions and find posts about tips and tricks!
Orianna sucks at just flinging her ball straight at someone, place it somewhere (in plain sight on the battlefield, or even inside of a wall!) and it'll be way harder to dodge. She's best at sweeping areas with it, like putting it in front of you and then "sweeping" it side to side/backwards and stuff. Try to speed up allies, rather than chasing people by yourself. Orianna is pretty much the WORST champion at chasing even though she has the speed from her W. The ball's movement speed is just so slow.
In laning, I like to put the ball on one side of the minion wave and then stand on the other as a way to zone. If they walk toward me, my passive automatically makes me win not just autoattack, but gives me a high chance of winning other trades as well. If they walk toward the ball, then it's a QW+AA for them. Also good because you're standing on the side that's warded.
Lategame, don't forget you still have autoattacks! They still hurt past level 10! QRW/QWR may not always be enough to kill someone. Try doing a QRW+AA+AA since they'll be slowed and still being flung from your ultimate. Also, I prefer to do QRW since her ultimate has a really really long casting time.
In laning, and your enemy is really low health, place the ball in a random spot under their tower. If they get a little too close, then ult + W. I had this work for me a lot of times against people that misjudge her range.
If you shield the tank and then ult when they engage, or Q and then ult, is a great way to turn around any teamfight. Don't be scared to only get an ult off on one person, it doesn't always have to be 3+ people. In teamfights, focus on shielding your squishies and getting off good Q+W and autoattacks on priority targets. If all else fails, you have an insane amount of peel and can literally peel for your entire team.
im unranked tho sooo..
watch some games from worlds of oriana especially faker, he taught me a lot about other champs and i'm studying his azir and oriana ones now, oriana is all about using your spells right, your W gives you a speed boost, shield can save you if used right, and ult can be used for damage and to survive a gank, taking the right summoners and knowing when to use them is very important
just watch this play faker made at worlds with oriana, shows perfectly how to utilize her abilities in certain situations
notice how he boosts his speed with ghost and his W, uses his ult to pull back jayce and then shields himself last second to not die to the zyra ult, watching him play in lane will help a lot as well, watching any high elo person playing will help you learn so much, not even just with champions but with how to cs, when to roam, where to ward and when to back, hope this helps!
