Coming back after a break... Advice?

Quit playing when the new select came out with the intention of coming back when solo que came out. Doesn't look like that is happening soon, so I figure I should at least do my placements and all. I'm out of date with the meta though and Some of my favorite champs (like Nunu) look a little weak right now. I'm probably going to que as some combo of mid/top/jungle. Leaning toward jungle but have no idea what jungle meta is right now, and a lot of it looks like split pushing. I really don't like split pushing, and prefer utility tanks and teamfight champs. Any advice on what is making them successful and what is making them struggle? I don't want to jump in and hurt my team trying to play something super out dated.

Leave.

Or face 15 minute stomps in yours or the enemy team.

Play only aram and you will be fine.

Summoners Rift is by all means dead with all of the foolish changes.

Junglers that can abuse Runic Echoes and Devourer are what you should expect to see at the moment in the lower leagues. Champions like Udyr, Shyvanna, Amumu and others who have their roaming patterns enabled by the current state of the game are the kinds you can expect to pubstomp disorganized play. Personally, with Runic Echoes and his recent adjustments, I don't really see anything that points to Nunu being particularly weak if he's a favored champion of yours, but I don't have any personal experience to back that up and he is of course still rather unpopular so it's hard to tell either way.

Top lane probably still has most of the regular faces you left it with like Malphite, Gangplank, Fiora, etc. The trend of tanks migrating up there seems to be continuing though, with Nautilus being the latest craze. Basically your traditional tanks that have ways to maintain respectable damage while building tanky are doing well. Zzrot's is gaining momentum as a split pushing item. Metagolem fighters are standing strong.

Mid's popular picks have been pretty stable, except you may find the massive influx of Lux picks to make for an unenviable environment.

Just go in and play a few normals and you'll probably get a feel of what people are doing in ranked. It's not like most people really make the effort to go against the meta there either.
