You know what champion sucks?

T RexHasTinyArms··30 votes·3,245 views

Whoever just shut me down last game...... Also Riven

Seriously though, sometimes a champion is over tuned and a problem, but most complaints I hear are about a champ doing what they are designed to do.

AlistarTryndamere and Kayle Are impossible to kill w/ their ults

Amumu Annie Galio and Hecarim Lock down a whole team for a wombo combo to start

Katarina Khazix and Tristana Clean up fights w/ resets

Yasuo Zed Rengar Riven Leblanc Diana Fizz Ahri and Akali Are ALL mobile/tricky 100-0 champs that can kill you and prevent you from reacting if they get ahead

Evelynn Elise JarvanIV LeeSin Nidalee Pantheon Shaco Vi and XinZhao Have good early pressure and can ruin an entire team pre 10 minutes if the enemy jungle doesn't put out any pressure and lanes don't hug towers like a kid on the first day of preschool hugs their parent

In the right situation or if they do it just a little bit too much better than the others that do their job, it's frustrating as hell. However, that doesn't necessarily mean the champion needs to be made weaker, or even that the champion is a problem. I'm completely shit w/ Elise even when she's strong because I don't put down enough pressure that early to get the game finished before I fall off, and I've played against people who did great early as Amumu and lost mid game because they made every initiation at the wrong time and just played team fights poorly. Sometimes it's just as much about the synergy between how someone plays (or how the champs that game are set up, looking at you 5 man squishy team vs Yasuo MonkeyKing combo) and the champ kit, as it is about issues with the champ kit. We all know that Malphite can cause problems for auto attack reliant champs in team fights, so when it gets picked, then you take Tryndamere into the match up and mid game rolls around, please quit complaining that Malphite is OP and realize like the rest of us that in any non terrible match up he's just an R bot mid game.

Basically, if you died to a champion in your last game, they're OP.

cody dong1 votes

But if you die to a champion two games ago, they're not OP anymore.

Or if you die to one in your next game, except then it's noted in all chat instead of on the boards.

Is that where Riot got the Villainy idea from?

The champion did their job.

It must be too much!

Its like the Garen complaints. Nothing is different about what he does, i always use to do it before the rework and i still do it now. They gave him MORE counterplay as compensation for the more damage they gave to the Villain. The only difference is before when i picked him my team would groan and the enemies would think they got a free win. Then im 15/2 around 10 minutes in and suddenly everyone is relying on me to carry them. Now i go 15/2 around 10 minutes in and its because Garen is OP and i have no skill.

Garen was designed to be a back line diver that is his intended role, that is why his secondary is Tank not his primary (which is fighter). He is not the kind of tank that does a ton of CC and he doesn't peel all that well, he is solely meant to run into their carries and fuck shit up. Now that he can actually accomplish that its suddenly a problem... I think people just need to stop complaining and learn how to adjust their strategy according to the enemy team instead of "IM ADC I SHOULD BE ABLE TO JUST RIGHT CLICK ON NEXUS AND KILL EVERYTHING ON THE WAY"

Zavern5 votes

The only problems I have with Garen is him healing over 300 a second with Warmongs and his ultimate killing anyone under half hp if they are the Villian.

Stephenizgod2 votes

I also have a problem with the ult killing the villain so quickly, it removes what little skill was required in Garen's kit, knowing when to ult. The warmogs thing is pretty easy to counter though if you just poke him.

Zavern3 votes

Ya. It just sucks that he can out run people so easily with his Q and Deadmans then heal all his hp back within 20 seconds.

Stephenizgod1 votes

Yes but thats an issue with Dead Man's Plate rather then Garen, the same thing happens with anyone else who uses it. On Garen i understand its a bit more OP but its hard to nerf him for that.

Reazale2 votes

Its almost like adc healing off a jungle camp (or2) or a minion wave!

Remlap12231 votes

Yep, back when Ryze was shit and you played him top lane and went 15/2, you were just a lucky troll. When he got played in the LCS and you go him top lane as 15/2, you're abusing freelo. Just ignore these assholes, you can never win on the internet.

yea thats true

The thing is that some champs just do their job way too good. Every adc is supposed to melt tanks come late game, Vayne insta assassinates them while pretty much being the safest adc in the game. Every mage assassin is supposed to oneshot your carries, but have other weaknesses like maybe sustain, range, medicore wave clear, weak CC and so on. Ahri doesnt have any of those. ...

Remlap12232 votes

I cannot wait for the day that the boards stop circlejerking that Vayne is OP. Every fucking day there's at least one thread about how she's the most broken champion in existence, when in reality she is in the exact same boat that Caitlyn was in Season 3.

She hasn't been buffed since patch 4.13, if I"m not mistaken, where her AS per level went from 3.1 to 4. Then her armor got buffed, and then it's just bugfixes and animation changes. Yet somehow that .9% AS per level made her the most OP champ in existence. Except she didn't take off until AFTER the tank meta.

Caitlyn, was actually played more, and had a higher winrate. She was picked in 50% of all games, rather than Vayne's 40%. Her winrate was around 52-4% if I'm not mistaken (compared to Vayne's 48 - 52%). The only changes Caitlyn recieved was that Caitlyn didn't lose headshot from attacking wards, and her attack speed was shifted from 0.668 to 0.625 and attack speed per level from 3 to 4. OMG NERF CAITLYN MOST BROKEN CHAMP IN LEAGUE OF LEGENDS YOU GUYS LIKE I CAN'T EVEN RIGHT NOW.

Edit: Really guys? I took you over half a day to circlejerk and downvote me? I am disappoint.

Stephenizgod2 votes

I have hated Vayne since the first game i ever played against her, but thats because i hate her... Is she OP? to me she is, but i think most of it is we are all just sick of seeing her. Every game is Vayne, Trist, and Kalista...

Penns1 votes

Its not only direct changes that makes champs op... Basically every adc ever that could beat Vayne got nerfed and the meta shifted towards champs that have to get kited.

It's the tank meta and the fact that all her counters got nerfed that make her so strong. She shreds tanks instantly, and kills squishies even faster. With most of her counters being very weak right now, it's very difficult to shut her down. If she gets behind she can just farm till she gets Botrk and then become the unstoppable team devouring monster she is.

Slamurai Jack1 votes

What tank meta? Where? Look at the top 10 most played junglers and only 1 of them builds Cinderhulk. Top 10 top laners only 3 of them are mostly built tank. Top 10 supports and only 5 of them are tanky. The tank meta has been over for months; stop parroting that line.

That doesn't mean she wasn't strong during the tank meta. Which is what brought her to light.

Slamurai Jack1 votes

Vayne is strong because Vayne is strong and it has nothing to do with the meta, tanky or not. Champs that are actually strong are never held back from play because of the meta.

T RexHasTinyArms1 votes

Well there's a reason why the "sometimes a champion is over tuned and a problem" line was included. I don't think vayne is nearly the problem she is drawn to be on the boards (she's not a certainlyT rework), but I think she is probably too safe/strong in lane for the fact that she is a huge hyper carry late game (which is what she's supposed to be).

As for Ahri though I have to ask, is she even top tier currently? I mean I know the champ is solid, but I can't remember the last time I saw an Ahri ban, and I haven't looked at a mid lane tier list in a long time but I'm pretty sure Ahri isn't S/God tier on the majority right now is she?

Penns1 votes

You probably havent seen an Ahri ban because the 6 latest reworks are banned all the time and if not, Id rather bab total bs champs like Vayne and just pick a counter to Ahri lol.

I know exactly what champions suck: Katarina, Diana, Akali, Rengar and Vladimir. There's not many of them, but boy do they suck hard. Never had any fun playing with, against or as any of these champions.

The Lexer1 votes

Really? 4 of those champions have to jump in on you with no escape. If you die and your team didn't get a kill, thats because you were not with your team. Vlad, on the other hand, just scales really hard into late game

Win rates show they are not OP, that isn't the point. The type of counterplay they offer, the stupid playstyle they encourage and the 'win big or go home' gameplay make them terrible teammates, terrible opponents and terribly unfun champions.

The Lexer1 votes

Yeah alright, I didn't even bring up win rates but whatever

Your point seemed to be: 'if you can't kill them you are bad', so I don't know what response you are looking for. They aren't fun, not because they can't be beaten (in fact, they lose more than they win), but because every interaction they produce feels terrible.

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

As an Akali main I find the "win big or go home" to be completely false since it is damn near impossible to lose lane top against anyone since she can easily just farm up and wave clear after level 5 and buy gunblade and win lane.

Laraso2 votes

I take it this is in response to my thread that hit the front page... I'll just let you know that I only feel that way about Fizz, and I feel that way about him whether I win lane or lose lane, whether he feeds or gets fed, whether we win or lose, it doesn't matter, fighting him is completely anti-fun in all situations at any stage of the game.

I know it might be hard to believe but not every rant thread is because people think someone's OP or because they got destroyed by one in their game, maybe some people just legitimately don't like a champ?

T RexHasTinyArms1 votes

Yeah, it was something I thought of after reading the fizz post, but I wouldn't say in response to. I thought your post was well worded and didn't complain about them being OP at all. I'd be surprised if you hadn't played fizz recently to be reminded of how stupid he can be some times, but that doesn't necessarily mean you got beat, it's just a generalization for the sake of simplicity in the OP.

I definitely understand what you mean about hating a stupid champ regardless of their strength. What made me think of it was actually an enemy shaco I played against recently. I love Amumu jungle and other weak early jungles and invades hurt a lot. Even if shaco falls off mid/late game and my team wins w/ my champ contributing well to team fighting, shaco is just so miserable to play against. I stopped playing mid/top as main roles a little while ago, but fizz is a frustrating as hell lane match up. Even if you crush him he can get a good roam in when you b to buy or something and come back w/ the ability to one shot you and make you play safe in a lane you won 1v1. It doesn't make him OP, but the way he does his job as an assassin is super annoying. Similarly since I love playing jungle champs that need to scale up a bit to hit full potential, early game counter jungle/invade champs are stupid frustrating to me even when they aren't OP. Personally I don't remember that when I haven't played one in a little bit so I made a joke about it for whoever else may be similar to me. Didn't mean to offend if it seemed like this post was trying to say yours wasn't good, that really wasn't my intention as much as being a little joking about how frustrating champs and strategies that counter what we like to play can be.

SociopathFriend1 votes

No Malzahar taking you to 100-0? I am disappointed OP- I hear about that every time I play him.

T RexHasTinyArms1 votes

MB, forgot about some. There are probably more than him that I forgot, but at least with him I can pretend it was just bc I thought everyone qss'd his ult and ran away before his full combo hit.

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

I love when I get fed as Malzahar and they QSS my ult and they still die because it will still hit you along with the E while you attempt to run away.

T RexHasTinyArms2 votes

:P yeah I play him, I'm just so bad at him I forgot he gets resets because I never see that mechanic lol. Seriously though I'm used to tanks, utility, and counter engage in terms of what I play and do well with in ranked and do any good with, so it's been a long time since I've seen the Yi resets personally :D

CasterGilgamesh1 votes

why people complain about them is they do too well at their jobs....or they are so simple that it takes no skill to play but it takes skill to fight against them

T RexHasTinyArms1 votes

That's why I said some champs actually are imbalanced, but sometimes it just sucks to play against stuff bc when they do their job that they were designed for it counters a whole team comp and is just really difficult to deal with in certain situations. Darius heal and Skarner numbers were definitely over tuned on release, but an assassin who can 100-0 a champ is frustrating as hell but is exactly what they are designed to do.

Lockenster1 votes

when people lose they think it's not their fault and blames things that arent necessarily the problem(or at least they put the blame on one problem way too much instead of thinking stright)

everyone thinks they're special and if they lose they start blaming on everything they can like "broken champs"

Bastard Chief1 votes

What's funny is I made a thread asking what champions do you play, and everyone who responded listing their champions was laughable because all those champions could be looked at as 'toxic" or "op". It's like a Fizz main complaining about a Riven main and vice versa, just STFU.

I hate seeing the boards spammed about the same champion daily, no they aren't OP, they are just better players than you are beating you on those champions. If they were OP, then surely I would have lost my lane to them but as it stands with well over 500+ matches, I've only lost my 1v1 lane mid and top under 6 times maybe? Yeah, against all those champions, even when my team feeds them, I still wreck them lol. I guess their op tho! watch out. Now I'll be downvoted for speaking the truth.
