The New HUD Rito Logic [EXPLAINED]
#1 Everything is crammed into one corner. Riot figured it would be easy to find all your information if it was in one corner. With that logic I could put all my shirts, pants, socks, and underwear in one drawer, with keeping all the other drawers empty, and easily be able to get dressed in the morning because they are all conveniently put in the same spot.
#2 EVERYTHING (AND I MEAN EVERYTHING) is positioned HORIZONTALLY. It is completely unorganized with no variation of orientation. Before this patch there was variation, there was vertical teammate champion icons with a vertically positioned map area, a vertically stacked bars in the top right corner (personal score, ping, fps). Now it is like a bunch of 2x10's next to eachother or on top of eachother like a bunch of Legos. Every other game understands the concept of variation of orientation (CS:GO for example has Ammo horizontal with a vertical weapon selection next to it)
#3 Size and location. I am able to adjust the HUD, but only a group of things within the HUD. The numbers inside the HUD are too small but the HUD its self is too large. I have a 32 inch monitor and have problems reading these numbers after appropriately sizing my ability bar. The champion icons being positioned right above the map, being so close, and it being positioned in the same orientation, it seemingly blends in and goes unnoticed. A big problem is that they moved the items on the other side of the ability bar and away from the champion icon. This may not be a problem with more recent players, but people who have played since Season 1 and Season 2 tend to have big problems with this after playing for years. To go along with this, the XP bar is now not a bar, it is a semi-circle. This makes it harder to actually tell when you are going to reach your next level to time certain things (like level 2 rush or lvl 6 rush).
#4 Shape. EVERYTHING IS RECTANGULAR. There are no curves in the design (except the one place they shouldn't have, the champion icon).
** ULTIMATELY:**
Riot made a retexture and then disorganized and made all the information visually and esthetically unappealing. There was nothing wrong with the other organization at all. All Riot had to do was add the Summoner Spell timer and upload a new texture to the HUD. In my opinion, I think Riot did this just to try to get new players in through design, but screw all the loyal and veteran players over. My first game after this patch, I had to DC because of how bad the HUD was along with the most enraging pirate music I've ever listened to. Not to mention the grammatical failure of the pirate announcer is confusing af.
Please upvote so Riot can see.
{Edit} Why do they give the champion range in the same spot as my AP, as if it changes; and as if I'm going to count these 575 pixels to get my range?
