My impressions of Ornn.

I only got to play him a few times yesterday and I know it's still too early to really judge his power, but I want to talk about him.

So first off, I do love his kit. But I also hate sometimes how his kit functions. Take his W. While it does provide a brief moment of CC immunity, you cannot turn it so your opponent can avoid getting hit with brittle by turning to the sides (it feels thinner than it should be). Now this is good counterplay, but it sometimes makes the ability feel like a bad idea to use in trades (which it might be because I am new at him and have yet to master him).

His E I feel has a weird hitbox with the wall knock up. It really feels like your opponent needs to be basically hugging a wall to get the knock up. Now this is probably because I'm used to Poppy carrying her target with her a fixed difference, meaning that I should stop comparing the two.

I'm really annoyed by his Q honestly. The skillshot seems incredibly thin making it poor for farming a distance. And the terrain formation takes so long that anyone who knows Ornn's kit isn't going to stay there long enough for it to go up so you can E them. Since you max this ability last, you want it for the synergy with your E. But with it being so slow in formation, it just doesn't feel like it does its job. Again, this is probably because I'm still new at him.

His ult is one of the funnest abilities I've used in game, but I feel that it's too telegraphed to use to start a fight (I say this as a Sion main) but too risky to use in a fight. But when you can use it close range, enemies basically need flash to dodge the redirect (because moving out of the way on the first part makes your pathing more predictable). Regardless, it feels very rewarding to use and you do feel bad for missing the ram with your headbutt (myself and others I've seen accidentally use his E to try and redirect his ult. Honestly that's embarrassing).

His ability to forge items feels kinda underwhelming imo. Being able to craft your items outside of base is great, but sometimes you need to go back to base simply for mana. Yes crafting the items immediately gives you the stats for them, but that 200 mana from an item you just forged when you're already low on mana might not be enough to stay. Idk, I'm probably using his abilities too much.

My biggest gripe however is just how slow he is. He has 335 base MS. If you're playing in the jungle you can really feel just how slow he moves (I played him in the jungle twice. He's fun there but idk if viable). I wish it was at least 340 MS. He also can't sell items outside the shop, so if you accidentally make the wrong component item (it's happened more than once for me) you're stuck with it until you back and you can't get full value.

If there was anything I would (in stupid haste because I have yet to master him) change about him, I'd replace his W shield with DR (not sure on scaling). But I wouldn't recommend changing him until he's been out for a while to get a better grasp of him.

Also, fix the bug that locks his full skin away.

He has a long range dash though(800 units). Cho'Gath has 345 base MS but that's because he has no mobility spells at all.

Giving a champion both a long range dash and high base MS would just make them too oppressive to play against as anything but a small handful of champs that are just as mobile at level 1. Like that's a big part of the reason why people hate Fiora so much, but her entire kit is based around reaching vitals and her dash is only 400 units.

What are you talking about? Look at every high mobility champion in the game. They have high base movement speed

Do you see Yasuo or Fiora getting an 800 range dash? Or being able to create range terrain or getting an AoE ranged spell?

They have high base MS because their entire kit revolves around it.

The dash isn't even that great what are you talking about? It has a delay at start and end and it's rather slow.

...what? What the hell are you even talking about? What do terrain or 800 range dashes have to do with high mobility champions having high base movement speed?

maokai gragas and every tanks have an average base ms

not slow, not fast

Sion has 350. Poppy has 345.

These I'm used to so seeing such a slower MS felt shocking.

sion has no dash, poppy is not a good example of balance

Sion doesn't have a dash sure. His ult is honestly on a short cooldown though.

335 isnt really slow tho, is it?

I still think he is gonna be broken in high elo/pro play. Never saw him ingame yet but that ~3k+ range knockup looks gud.

It feels slow. Compared to Sion's 350 and Poppy's 345.

Idk, could be because he looks pretty fat. Cho with some stacks also looks slow even tho his move speed is good.

Sion. 350.

I don't think weight has anything to do with it.

Well Fizz has 335 too and I wouldnt say he is that slow.

Corki has 335,iirc,and Urgot has 330,to give you some comparison. The highest is Panth's and Yi's 355 (again, iirc). It on the low side of the average movement.

Yea that ult is so telegraphed . Good luck if yas or braums on the enemy team beacuse your giant fire elemental will just sputter out after touching a gust of wind.

I'm personally a fan of the concept of him, the idea that with him you can essentially "Gift" your team a lategame powerspike if they lack one. The problem I see with him is that you don't really want to put him in any lane due to things just being better there. I could very easily see him be played in LCS though, especially if a team were to draft something centered around cassio/trist.

I remember when people were calling him broken before he even was out. Honestly, he is sort of on the weak side at the moment. I hope to see him get some small buffs. His wave clear is pretty shit and he spends tons of mana to do it. His ult is sort of weird. You for sure don't engage with it, but use it mid fight where it's hard to call deal with. He is not a champion you engage with but follow up with.
