I had a shocking surprise this morning. . . .

My top laner told my ADC to build sightstone. Yes you read that right.

It was late game, 40+ minutes into match, (which is also a surprise as most matches end by 26 minutes,) I was playing Leona, building tank. Our team was getting kills and I was using my trinket to ward dragon and baron, while warding important pathways and choke points while dragon and baron were down.

I get four out of six items finished, somehow got several kills even though i had no damage items at the time, and out of nowhere I see in the chat,

"Caitlyn buy a ss."

Now before anyone says, "Why didn't you build one?" Not at a single point in the entire match did anyone ask me to build one or say to me that we needed one. So instead of the standard, "Leona we need a sightstone!" I see our ADC being told to build one. And not just once either. Caitlyn was told again later, and then was told she wasn't dealing damage so we couldn't rely on her and needed vision instead.

I seriously doubt I was doing well enough to shift the sightstone slave stick onto someone else, so what gives with this? Is it something new that I've missed until now or something? Are ADCs responsible for vision control as well now?

EVERYONE is responsible for vision control

Yes! Still, I think the support is/should be the major player in that.

The support should buy a sightstone, BUT everyone gets 2 free wards. USE THEM.

The jungle should typically get the vision jungle item as-well, along with a sweeper to clear wards.

Everyone should also buy AT LEAST one pink ward. I mean, its only 75G people come on.

no, junglers dont need to "typically" get the warding jungle item.

You shouldn't be told to build sightstone. You should pretty much always build one, especially as Leona.

My guess is your ADC was probably Dieing often and not getting kills or really contribuiting at all. When ADC's get really far behind they are essentially useless. I assume that the top laner realized how useful you were so they asked the ADC who was doing terribly to get some sight, to help contribute. This of course is just a guess since you didn't provide much info, and this is of course assuming that your top laner is not completely crazy.

No I mades sure Caitlyn got kills early game. Hell the enemy team was raging at their Bard and calling him a troll because how many times he died on bot lane.

Cait was fed but I think what it was was that in all the important team fights she wasn't there to do the damage she was supposed to do, while I was constantly locking down their Tristana.

I'm just confused as to why Cait was told to get a SS and not me. I haven't been in silver all that long so I don't know how gameplay differs between it and bronze very much yet.

Well in low silver, there is no difference lol. Low silver is high bronze essentially. If Caitlyn was skipping team fights and was off in the jungle when a fight broke out, every time. I can see why he would say that... Honestly thought it sounds like he was just talking crap lol.

Cait shouldn't be building the Sightstone, it's far worse for your team in the long run. She should be the one just trinket warding with you buying the Sightstone. Hell, Sightstone on that top laner would probably have been even more efficient than putting it on a Cait unless it was one of those glass cannon champions. Even if you were keeping good vision with the trinket up it would have been far more valuable to have the sweeper + Sightstone instead so you could easily clear enemy wards. Still not entirely sure what your top laner was thinking, that one is a mystery.

Why didn't you build a sightstone?

Everyone is responsible for vision control.

Generally speaking, most champions that fall behind should probably invest in a Sightstone. Maybe not an ADC, but the general idea that somebody was not being useful investing in SS is not entirely wrong. ADCs scale eventually though so it was probably bad to tell Cait to.

i dont think u understand warding....

U ward to cover areas of the map u will be currently using ur ward in bot lane bruh does not help u with ur 5v5 mid ... hence u get sight stone that recharges all the time

its ok to ward more then 3 times .... its called vision control

im still wondering why u didnt get a sightstone as a support

Well If you still have totem wards you can still ward main entry points to lanes. If no one has came to gank bot for the whole game, then a sightstone was a useless buy, when you could have had an item to make an impact. To be fair though 99% of the time people will be ganking and you sightstone is key to jungle teamfights. I have seen very few cases where the sightstone was just useless because no one came lol.

I disagree with this. Even if no one has ganked bot (perhaps especially if no one has), a support with a sightstone can ward the enemy jungle, roam mid and ward their river, or if your jungler is likely getting counter jungled he can ward his own jungle. SS is never useless as long as people are watching the map. If no one is watching the map, though, then yeah... but so are all the trinkets at that point too.

I was just talking about those few off games, where no one ganks bot, and you could have bought an item instead to kill them faster. This almost never happens, so its nothing to be too concerned about. In pretty much all cases Sightstone is OP.

ADC's shouldn't build sightstone.

You should have though.

ADC's are respondable for vision control, everyone is, but it is probably best to have them use blue trinket to check baron.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

supports should always have a item 2049 as early as possible ideally by 7 mins into the game

Dasdi961 votes

Since you were playing support, you should have bought a sightstone from at most 15 minutes. The adc is the last one you want to buy a ss because it will severely cut their damage due to their cubic scaling.

Reading this, I somehow missed the "I was playing leona" in the beginning and the LAST thing I expected was the plot twist at the end that the storyteller was actually the support.

LMAO @ this story being told by a support Leona, shocked that their adc was being told to build a sightstone after not building one them-self 40 minutes into a game wow you really cannot write this stuff. I can't at the self drag.

In all seriousness though if you are playing support you should build a sightstone in 100% of your games no questions asked. Not to mention the health on sightstone helps Leona a lot more than other supports so its not like the stats are useless on her.

the falco of the problem is you not having a sightstone as the support
