Yorick's VGU made me wonder; Will Morde keep a powerful AI unit as his ultimate?

Riot always aim to make their characters distinctive and unique, offering new and exciting experiences and delivering on a champion's theme.

They dislike having too similar champs as was shown by Darius being just a better Garen. This made me think if Mordekaiser's ultimate, if raising his slain enemies as his thralls can be considered one of this most defining traits, would be replaced in his VGU seeing that Yorick already taps in the entire "summoning a ghost to fight with you" aspect of things.

Darius can't be a better Garen. There's no justice in that.

Noxian justice is a thing, you know? Usually ends in a Guillotine though D:

You make a good point. This enslaving of the damned was originally Mordekaiser's this, but now Yorick is sporting an ult that would make sense for it.

I feel in a Mordekaiser VGU they might focus on the revenant aspect of Mordekaiser more. On how he truly never dies.

And I'd actually be totally fine with that.

Playing up the Deathknight archetype as Reav3 would put it and delivering on this vision of undying Revenant Tyrant would certainly be something to strive for. With or without enslaving the damned though it is kinda core to Mordekaiser in a sense.

Though let's be honest, most of what makes Morde unique is kinda hard to balance/unhealthy in some way or the other, which is really unfortunate.

Either way, anxious to see what Morde COULD be in the future. For now I'll just be getting a remembered individual to level 7

Kinda makes me wonder if they'll make it similar to Skeleton King Leoric from Heroes.

March of the black king's pretty darn dank

Yorick already got Leroric's other ultimate in his W^^

Mordekaiser controls the souls of the dead and bends them to his twisted will, Yorick can't.

Yes, but the outcome's pretty much the same with undead creatures doing their master's bidding to some extent.

Though Morde ripping the bloody soul out of someone certainly's a lot cooler than just summoning your overly attached mist gf to the battleground

I personally hope a reworked mord wouldn't keep that ulti. Its cool at times but its so glitchy and difficult to keep up with new champions as.

Ever see a mord get a penta just because he ghosted a jhin during his 4th bullet animation and the jhin ghost had 100% 4th bullets? Yea that happened 15 patches ago and is still unfixed. Yorick had the same issue and me and a friend would intentionally do the bug for free wins.

Also I wouldn't worry about making ults too similar to other champions. Ryze is basically TahmKench or TwistedFate and four marksmen basically have the same ults Jinx Ezreal Ashe Draven and two have the same E Twitch Kalista; and while they may be excusable, there's still tranformation ultis and characteristics being stolen Nidalee EliseoldQuinn and shared ability power up ultis Heimerdinger Karma Leblanc . They could still keep the dragon of mord or give himself a self cast zilean ultimate to keep with his theme while removing the enemy champions aspect to make him feel less random or inconsistent with the times.

Global =/= The same. Jinx is meant for damage, Ezreals is meant for clear, Ashes is meant for utility, and Dravens is meant as a finisher.

I can't really see particular moments where jinx's ulti and draven's ulti is used in practice differently. Anytime I see a draven ulti is usually for bonus damage in a duel or to finish off a runaway target, jinx is the literal same thing but going through the animation makes it hard for straight duels and it doesn't come back. If anything the champion meant to use it for an execution uses it mostly just for the damage.

Jinx's is meant as the finisher, Draven's as damage. SMDR has an execute

I think he will. Mordekaiser's wraith and the Maiden are very different from one another. That's like asking if Annie will keep Tibbers.

The Maiden will move down a lane on her own if inspired to while Yorick goes elsewhere. Yorick also deals bonus magic damage for hitting the same target as her.

Mordekaiser will damage an enemy champion directly with his ult, creating a wraith of them on their death. The wraith will follow Mordekaiser wherever he goes, and its strength depends on the champion it was drawn from. He can also wraith the dragon.
