Surrender feature routinely ruins games for late game blooming champions
I tend to prefer champions and builds that bloom late game to be able to dominate either through their massive kill potential or their split pushing prowess.
Many games end in surrender long before they should, never giving me a chance to gain steam and start making up for my team's early failures.
I know it can happen because I've done it a lot. We clearly looked like we were losing, but then I hit my late game build on a character like Talon and go on an absolute rampage, or hit my stride on Udyr and ruin their day with relentless split pushing, letting my team regain momentum for the win.
My teammates either don't know what I'll be capable of if we hold out for 10 more minutes, or they don't care. As long as they seem to be at a disadvantage, and they know they personally can't be the one to shift the momentum back for our team, they will surrender without second thought or hesitation.
I wouldn't mind losing games if the enemy was able to push an early game advantage to such an extent that they ended it before we could leverage our late game strength. But there is nothing more frustrating than doing relatively well for the first 20 minutes, are on track to hit your power curves so you can start equalizing the gold and kill counts for your team, but then your team pulls the rug out from under you and surrenders at 20 minutes. Often just when I was starting to get rolling after focusing on farming for the early game.
It happens way too much.
I am all for surrendering games where your team is clearly outmatched, outplayed, and will never recover, but too many players either are not a good judge of when that is or don't care to try.
