A Rework in How Reroll Points are Calculated in ARAM

For one main reason: the rewards of having more champions just isn't enough to beat down ARAM accounts for the most part. People will make ARAM accounts because it is more advantageous to have less champions than it is to have more. Here are the two solutions:

  1. Just fucking make every champion available in ARAM. This solves the problem completely. The potential downside is that it may cause Riot to lose out on champion sales, but it might actually increase them because people now have more information. More research is required for this case to be implemented.

  2. In the meantime, the following system can be in place:

First, scale the point system up by 10. It takes 2000 points for 1 reroll. Now reduce the base rate to about 200 and each champion owned increases this rate exponentially by 3%. This means that someone will all 124 champions will gain 4200 reroll points per game, in essence always having 2 rerolls per game. This is a net loss for people who have less than 45 champions and a net gain for those who have more. Players will earn 1 reroll per game at about 80 champions owned and 2 at about 101. At 125 players will be earning enough points to reroll 4 times per game.

Which is why I suggest that we gives third, fourth, and fifth rerolls at 75, 100, and 125 champions owned. Probabilistically speaking, having as many as 5 rerolls at 125 champions is significantly better odds at NOT rolling an OP champion than an ARAM account with only 2 (60% vs 25%).

But honestly, with the snowball spell coming to ARAM to help balance otherwise unusable champions, this system now seams superfluous except that people with every champion could now fish for ones they want in ARAM. GOOD. I like playing ARAM, but I also like playing on Howling Abyss because it facilitates teamfighting, allowing you to play a game without having to farm or control nearly as many objectives. I'm sure there are plenty of people who like playing the map but not necessarily the mode. If they have a lot of champions, why not let them fish? If you like the randomness of ARAM, then don't reroll. If you're worried that more rerolls will lead to more Ziggs and Luxs, that's simply not mathematically true.

The main downside of my proposed system is that it does not rampup nearly as quickly for new players. There isn't really an easy solution to this problem as ARAM accounts are indistinguishable from new accounts in this system.

are aram accounts really a problem?

Yes.. They really are huge problem. Imagine team with long range heavy poke that punishes you for sticking your nose inch further than second turret. You can't farm at all. And if they also have sustain like Sona/Nid/Nami your life will get even worse.

True that "best aram picks" are mostly squishy, but you just cannot win with simple "rush at 6". You need teamwork and that is something hard to have in soloQ
