This Game's Beautiful Double Standard

Assassins have to have mechanical counterplays, no? Everything has to be skillshots/delayed/both.

Meanwhile, how many buffs to allies can you actually miss?

Also, can you miss an autoattack?

God, I miss the older seasons, when the counterplay to assassins was more about macro, as in being in a part of the map that the enemy assassin isn't in.

I disagree with this, whenever the counterplay is, "avoid the most mobile class in the game" then we have a problem.

However, I also don't understand why champs like Janna and Raka can heal and shield for so much IMPACT, but not have to aim anything to do it. I don't know about marksmen though, making AA's skillshots ain't gonna happen.

And what is the counterplay to that please?

You want to know what's double standards? Riot nerfing item 3076 because "people were just sitting on it", meanwhile it's not a single fucking problem when assassins sit on item 3155.

Tbh part of the problem is that 'this is unhealthy to 100-0 with 0 counter play' has been set at 'literally' 0 defense investment. If the game we're balanced such that adcs needed to dip some kind of defense to avoid the asplode, and actually make a meaningful sacrifice to do so, that might be healthier.

Because really, if the 3 item Le Blanc or rengo catches the 0 defense adc in the open at 25 minutes, maybe they should die without a say in the matter. If you wanted enough hp pool to react, maybe you should have a ninja tabi or merc scimitar. But the game is balanced such that no defense is a-ok.

Riot has been on a crusade to add outplay potential to everything (except targeted buffs and basic attacks) for a long time and it has been steadily making the game worse.

Assassin gets damage stripped from signature spell because 80 damage at rank 5 is too high. Casual Mage skill does 250 AoE from range, nps.

Not even close, he is just comparing the fact that every other class designed to do damage doesn't have to jump through hoops to achieve said damage.

ADCs just right click for the damage from 500+ units. Also have waveclear. Mages are usually point to click or AoE, both from the safety of 600+ units. Also have waveclear.

There are some mages who rely on skillshots, but most do not. They have high ranged damage without any limiting factor.

Assassins however have to be in melee range, very squishy, usually lack waveclear and CC. Their whole purpose is "Kill those out of position". Since they lack waveclear, CC and usually pull out less sheet damage than mages and marksmen, what is their purpose if not burst?
