So if ezreal keeps abusing items, why do people keep wanting the items nerfed instead of ezreal

item 3025 item 3153 item 3042 i've seen posts about them this week, and it's always in context of Ezreal

Why in the hell should we lose MORE ITEMS because of ONE CHAMPION?

Riot finance: Lord of the four seasons ezreal incoming,

item 3070 Ivern

######if this actually happens I don't know if I should laugh, cry or become shaco.

Unfortunately, though i doubt it'd really hurt his skin sales to get a few nerfed interactions

Every game without ezreal is potentially a lost skin sale in riots eyes, more played games=more £€$

You see, ezreal isn't an OP champ or anything. But he has a good fan base that want to play him. We re not asking for nerfs on ezreal (at least I am not).

What I would like is ezreal to be balanced around being a trinity force adc like he used to be. And have the items BUFFED for other champions.

For example, IBG. If it was melee only, would anyone mind a lot if it was buffed to compete as a tank item vs bruisers?

I just don't like the idea of a champion needing the items to be relevant, and at the same time be the only champion on whom the items are even viable/competitive.

At least that's how I perceive the situation.

by definition, if a champ has been floating between A and S tier for 6 years I'm pretty sure they're overpowered, especially on a massive playerbase

What I would like is ezreal to be balanced around being a trinity force adc like he used to be. And have the items BUFFED for other champions.

why? trinity force has much of the same issue, the triforce build gets a frozen mallet

For example, IBG. If it was melee only, would anyone mind a lot if it was buffed to compete as a tank item vs bruisers?

Did you see my post regarding the issues pertaining to the three transformation champions and what has happened in the past?

also I can't see it being any better of an item if it were 'melee only' since its current power level is the max it can be before something like fizz or ekko comes in and goes full tank

I just don't like the idea of a champion needing the items to be relevant, and at the same time be the only champion on whom the items are even viable/competitive.

Again, Iceborn AND manamune are both built on jayce and have both been built on jayce since his release, they're not his core build anymore but that's simply due to imbalances in his kit regarding lethality, which riot has stated a yearning to nerf. That can't be done if there isn't a viable alternative for him to build into, and his healthiest role historically, as well as his initially intended role, was that of a B tier ADC meets a B tier bruiser.

At least that's how I perceive the situation.

I just firmly disagree that a single champion should ever be the catalyst for the removal of an item, I'd rather have that specific champion have a situational nerf in relation to that item.

Saezio6 votes

Who said to remove the item?

REWORK THE ITEM(s) is what I am saying, so they are better on more champions, if that leaves ezreal too much on the weak side, buff him, if it makes him OP nerf him.

I am against items that are built by 1 champion existing. (obviously viktor's is a different story, just saying this because in another thread someone argued with me that ez having manamune was the same as viktor and hexcore)

Disembark2 votes

Ezreal has only been good in competitive for 6 years, and only really in the hands of Korean players who practice him a fuck ton at the highest level. Even then he falls out of the meta.

He's been shit for a lot of the past 3 years, wtf are you talking about. He was shit all through the ardent meta era for like a year (season 7 MSI to season 8 mid) where he came back due to double tear (because the item got reworked for mages, and was straight up OP). Fell out of the meta until 8.11 which gutted all crit ADCs.

He's also been pretty shit in SoloQ for long periods of time. He doesn't even really build bork right now so shows how much you know about the champion.

This is factually incorrect. A few years ago he was actually at 46%, and the boards would often have posts asking for buffs. Ezreal's strength or lack of has always come down to small buffs or nerfs. Small buffs have pushed him to too strong, while small nerfs have guttered him. His core items are the same items that he's been building for years.

Do they nerf him back down to 46%? Or do they nerf his interaction with his on hit core items, which he's used for years, some of which were spent in a pretty bad spot?

GayFluffyUnicorn2 votes

Lol ezreal is giga broken. Like out of this world broken.

But for some reason people are so extremely bad at playing ezreal properly.

Schenix11 votes

Because IBG and Manamune/Murumana are outdated items for most other champions and are basically only built by him consistently. It points out the age of these items relative to everything else that has been introduced or re-introduced into the game.

IBG has a lot of isolated abuse cases on ranged champions, but it's good for melees to stick to a target while still having a small damage boost and decent stats. Even then, melees aside from Ornn, Poppy, and Malphite, don't consider it much at all. The item needs an update, much like Manamune.

Manamune/Murumana in general could be renamed Ezreal's Arrow at this point and we wouldn't care. It needs a complete overhaul to be an actual item in League of Legends and not just Ezreals personal hex core.

BotRK and Trinity Force are among the best items in the game on basically any champion that can build them and use them, that's not limited to Ezreal in the slightest.

Slythrin Umbreon2 votes

It's worth noting that both Jace and Varus used to build Manamue and play as AD Poke mage-likes, but both of them were reworked away from doing that. The problem with Muramana is that there aren't many AD casters with Mana to use it. And when there is one, they'll probably prefer Lethality now.

Ezrael will keep being allowed to abuse every single on-hit interaction as long as his Q applies them from off screen every second and a half.

Just be glad he can't crit with Q I guess.

I love how it’s only “abuse” if a ranged champion builds it.

Z3Sleeper5 votes

It's abuse when non-intended users become the primary users of an item without the item receiving changes to compensate for a user-base consisting of champions who not only weren't meant for the item but also are much better with it.

This goes for anything. TK top abuse is TK changes meant for bot lane that ended up making him beat every melee top laner and thus causing him to become a top laner.

Essentially, abuse = unintended use of something which causes it to be overbearing (mos of the time just means overbearing, but we as players define "intended use" via patch notes, dev notes, etc.)

Zed is abusing black cleaver Talon is abusing black cleaver

Yes indeed they were, and changes to Black Cleaver have been made to properly accommodate the fact that non-bruisers are utilizing it.

(also to be fair BC was originally intended as both a bruiser and assassin item but was shifted more towards bruisers later and then shifted back to be good on both, which is the current iteration)

Shyvana is abusing bork

Once again, changes were made for this (more specifically for Yi, that also affected Shyv's power with it)

Supports are abusing mage items

This one isn't true though. Can't think of any true support that's abusing mage items. Any support that currently uses mage items is in fact a mage (to include Zyra, Brand, etc.). Edit: Nvm Sona is an exception and 100% needs to be addressed I agree (make her better without being funneled and gut funneling).

Also not true, mobility boots were specifically made with them in mind.

No items are made for specific champions? Umm yes they are. Lethality items were entirely designed for assassins and still are almost exclusively used by them.

Zed and talon are not abusing black cleaver because it's not better on them than it is on the champions it was intended for (bruisers).

Shyvana abusing bork? What? Bork is literally intended for her. Bork was designed as a bruiser item that helps them to stick to their target while providing damage.

Supports are abusing mage items

Tell me one support that uses mage items THAT ISN'T A MAGE SUPPORT or meant to be a damage support. They are using the items meant for them.

Those boots are jungler items.

Again, using an item meant for the champion is not abusing it when it's still just as powerful or even more powerful on other champions that were meant to use it.

Olaf is a bruiser abusing a tank item

Talon and zed are assassins abusing bruiser items

And are you actually about to argue that a bruiser wants an attackspeed reliant item that does ONHIT fucking damage? Are you actually about to argue that bruisers want to stack attackspeed to use onhit effects.

Olaf is a bruiser abusing a tank item

It's not a tank item. It's a bruiser/tank item meant as an engage tool. It offers very little tankiness so it's hardly a tank item.

Talon and zed are assassins abusing bruiser items

I already addressed this.

And are you actually about to argue that a bruiser wants an attackspeed reliant item that does ONHIT fucking damage? Are you actually about to argue that bruisers want to stack attackspeed to use onhit effects.

First of all, buying one item that gives attack speed is not "stacking". Stacking means buying multiple attack speed items. Secondly, yes, it was meant for bruisers, especially champions like udyr, shyvana, jax and irelia. Bork gave them sticking power with its active effect and they had attack speed on their builds anyways from items like trinity force or their kits. And on-hit isn't a bad stat on bruisers, especially when they had no abilities that really scaled with raw stats and it was % damage which helped in dealing with tanks and other bruisers. Then adcs started abusing it and the item had a couple of changes over the years. So yes, it was indeed meant as a bruiser item. I'm not really even arguing about this at this point, just educating you about facts.

Mobility boots were made for supports. Not junglers.

Those boots were added to the game before the support role even truly existed. So creating anything with just them in mind is kinda hard. Not to mention supports weren't even building them until later, junglers took them way more often before they were popularized among supports because roaming as a support wasn't a real concept back then. You re speaking about things you have no knowledge or experience of. You really should stop. This is like someone from 2000 trying to argue with a guy from 1970 about what it was like living in 1980. The guy from 2000 didn't even live back then so he is in no place to argue with a guy who was living and experiencing it first hand. I played during those early days, you didn't. Not to mention i was good at the game even back then. You are in no place to argue.

No, you just didn't give any real example of bruisers abusing items not meant for them. There have been cases of bruisers abusing crit and one of the most recent ones is the version of essence reaver that got turned into spear of shojin. It was meant for adcs but was discovered to be much better on bruisers so riot made it into a bruiser item. It's just simply harder for bruisers to really abuse items meant for other classes because usually that means either useless stats or lack of tankiness. It's easier to abuse an item that is powerful and makes you tanky (old version of sterakk that also worked on ranged champions) than an item that is powerful but makes you squishy.

item 3043 : is used mostly by him and no other champions. It could be made an Ezreal item similar to Viktor's Hex Core. General request is to rework it into a more useable item.

item 3025 : has been also abused by Tanky Ranged Casters in the recent seasons Viktor Karma and people believe it will always be problematic on Ranged champions.

item 3153 : has a history of being either broken or weak. It doesn't help that its other main users are Vayne Lucian , who are generally popular and hated at the same time.

While Ezreal is definitely a factor for the cases you mentioned, he isn't the only cause for these complaints.

Illabethe4 votes

Kaisa also uses manamune.

Anu3isII1 votes

True. It is kind of a new thing, so I'm not completely sure if it will stick or not, since she rushes Stormrazor as often as Manamune.

Illabethe1 votes

SR is what I don't understand. After its passive transfer, it got taken off the meta for every other adc. Yet for some reason, she's still building it. She could get the 100AD threshold much earlier on a item 3813 , and the 30% AS is far off from 100% for her other evolve tied to it.

And her move speed is such that she doesn't really need the slow proc.

item 3813 + item 1037 +item 3070 = 100+ AD the cheapest of all options...

Anu3isII1 votes

Considering she most of the time rushes item 3124 second and builds a Crit item third ( item 3046 or item 3085 ), item 3095 's 30% helps her cover E's upgrade, while item 3004 / item 3812 would still need Attack Speed.

Illabethe1 votes

You're talking 3 items to get a single evolution....... guinsoo's + SR isn't enough to get +100..... that's only 85 AD (need 15 from somewhere, and you can't get that from runes)

And you need 3 items to hit the attack speed criteria.....

There's no reason you couldn't item 3812 item 1037 item 3070 > item 3006 > item 3124 > item 3153 and be hitting both the AD requirement AND the attack speed requirement in 3 items..... and have a hell of a lot of sustain....

FSRER1 votes

If that was the ezreal build I wouldn't mind. But, his most seen build (at least in my elo) is item 3043 item 3285 item 3148 and because ezreal is allowed to have his w doing 300 base damage and a 90% ap scaling on that crap and on his e 280 base damage and 75% ap scaling, allowing him to 2 shot everything every 4 seconds.

Champion Chrome1 votes

as an ez main since S5 or S6, I would want them to nerf the base damage of his W a fair bit, because it is VERY strong right now. I would also like him to get a passive that synergizes better with his kit, but that would just be a nice bonus.

It's not like Ezreal or his items are broken. What's broken evidently is his ACCESS to them.

Every champ that is adopting Klepto (Ez, Karma, Sona) Has recently seen an influx of win rates.

Ez is just getting his items 2-3 minutes early, which makes his mediocre kit strong long enough to create dramatic impacts and snowball a greater item lead.

I mean it will always be an issue, as long as we keep his Q design the same.

Think about it..

A long range (1000+ target range) that applies ON-HIT EFFECTS.

However we can also solve this issue by making some of the items not available to him, like making Iceborn Gauntlet Melee Only (something most people have suggested).
