The Future Of Hybrid Champions And Items

I'm not just talking about champions who can play several lanes, but the whole AD vs. AP build debate. Akali for example can build either AD or AP but still receive benefits from the other stat. Most of the time, at least when I look at it, most people play her as AP. Then you have items like item 3124 that are being removed. I'm asking what should the standard of hybrid items be? Have stats that benefit both AP and AD? What about champions? Should they have to choose between AP and AD builds, or would/should it be viable to have a mixture of the two in their builds? Should hybrid champions become the new standard of League of Legends, or should they be a niche?

I don't feel like Riot will take out all hybrid items. Gunblade I feel will stay on League for a while.

If you wanted, you could probably build Akali's runes/masteries as AD, then build AP on her. AD to help farm early game, then AP for late game and you will still have benefits the whole game.

after Rageblade being removed... items that grant both AD an AP are only:

Trinity Force (30 AD, 30 AP) 3703 G Hextech Gunblade (45 AD, 65 AP) 3400 G plus 12% Life Steal and UNIQUE 20% Spell Vamp...

maybe if there is AD and Life Steal items that priced 2xxx or so... and have decent AD... like AD version of Will of the Ancients... that prices 2500 G...

Xypherous has been pretty clear that hybrid itemization will not be supported. That means that hybrid champions will need to build damage items of one category or the other.

I expect each hybrid champion to look at the itemization and end up building mostly one way, so as to gain the benefits of good multiplier items. We'll occasionally find something like burn Evelynn, which used item 3209 and item 3151 to do many damage, but mostly I think the future of hybrid champions is building like Kayle.
