Not only are his AP ratios higher but he gets more defense for building AP?
I don't understand Riot's obsession with AP Gragas. He's got tank stats, a defensive ability, health sustain, CC, and a game changing ult. Why does he need to be able to build full AP?
Every season they want to make sure this monstrosity can 1 shot people in the LCS for the big esports plays. It's sickening.

makkii1 votesHonestly, while building full ap gragas is cool, right now it feels subpar compared to similar “melee ap” champs out there, who tend to be more slippery than him ie ekko & fizz. Believe it or not his current w doesn’t really keep you from getting blown up with an ap build even if you go health/armor/ap like roa/Zhonya/gauntlet/morello.
It’s even worse if you go full glass, and so he isn’t really viable compared to other similar champs who have the tools necessary to survive.
This buff was very necessary, and honestly it might not even be enough imo, but we’ll just have to wait and see

My point is his kit is actually a tank or AP bruiser kit. He was originally designed to be a tank.

He was originally designed to be tanky, but he started being used AP during season one, I feel like both are reasonable play styles, and used both interchangeably over 8 seasons.
AP gragas as a concept is fine imo, so long as they don’t front load too much scaling into barrel roll because then his poke can become oppressive.
If anything, giving him better scaling in w and giving him scaling mitigation is the most reasonable path because it doesn’t cause tank gragas to get overtuned, and only affects glass ap and tanky ap gragas.
I don’t understand why exactly you hate AP gragas so much
Edit: also it’s undeniable gragas is UP right now, what would you rather them do? Make him an overbearing cc bot like sej or zac? I would argue we have enough of that and that it’s terrible for the game.
Like it’s to the point that I can be in middle of my own team and get chain cc’d 100-0 even with MERC treads, we don’t need another tanky cc monstrosity
